    Abstract: A method of increasing hydrophobicity of a molecular sieve is provided. The method includes: (a) providing a metallosilicate molecular sieve having a framework consisting of oxides of silicon (Si) and a metal (M), wherein M is boron or zinc; (b) contacting the metallosilicate molecular sieve with a liquid aqueous system, thereby obtaining a demetallated molecular sieve having silanol nests and empty framework sites; and (c) thermally treating the demetallated molecular sieve, thereby obtaining a thermally-treated molecular sieve, wherein the thermally-treated molecular sieve (i) retains the three-dimensional framework structure of the metallosilicate molecular sieve and (ii) has a higher Si/M molar ratio as compared to the metallosilicate molecular sieve.

    Abstract: Zeolites having highly dispersed bimetallic clusters, uniformly distributed in size and composition, encapsulated therein are disclosed. Metal encapsulation and alloying is conferred by introducing ligated metal cation precursors into zeolite synthesis gels, which are subsequently crystallized hydrothermally to form zeolites with metal cations occluded in the pores. The ligated cations are anchored to the zeolite framework via siloxane bridges which enforces their uniform dispersion throughout the zeolite crystals. Treatment of the crystallized zeolites in O2 and then H2 forms bimetallic clusters, which remain narrowly distributed in size and composition.

The process comprises contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising olefins and isoparaffins with a catalyst comprising delaminated SSZ-70 under alkylating reaction conditions. The delaminated SSZ-70 offers a zeolite layer with a single unit cell of thickness in one dimension, allowing an elimination of mass transfer in comparison with regular SSZ-70. This prevents coke formation inside zeolite channels and improves catalyst stability.
