  • Patent number: 6754237
Abstract: Method and apparatus for setting up a connection between a first terminal and a second terminal over an Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) link having one or more bearer channels that allow a user-selected protocol are provided. The terminals support a plurality of possible software protocols for use on the bearer channels. In order to facilitate new types of ISDN protocols on an existing system, the method includes the step of separating the protocol software into a generic module containing generic ISDN encoding/decoding protocols and into protocol specific modules containing specific types of ISDN encoding/decoding protocols.

  • Publication number: 20010022838
Abstract: The present invention relates to a private telecommunications system comprising a number of switching arrangements (NA, NB) and using an asymmetrical protocol supporting set up of virtual calls between two switching arrangements for transfer of information. Means are provided for creating a call reference in the first switching arrangement (NA) when a first virtual call is to be set up from the first switching arrangement (NA) to a second switching arrangement (NB), storing means being provided in said first and second switching arrangements (NA, NB) for storing said call reference. Said first virtual call is released while all internal connections and the end points related to it are kept, and a second virtual call is set up in the direction opposite to that of the first virtual call using said call reference such that symmetrical transfer of information is enabled between the two switching arrangements (NA, NB).

  • Publication number: 20010003092
Abstract: The present invention relates to a private microcellular telecommunications network comprising a number of network nodes (10,20,30,40) serving as home location nodes for a number of cordless telephones respectively and also keeping information relating to identity (authentication) and current location for the respective cordless telephones. Each network nodes serving as a home location node uses a distributed database function for the home location node functionality which is distributed among the network nodes when needed and it comprises means for using a separate connection (25) for sending enquiry messages and receiving reply messages. The invention also relates to a method of managing mobility in a microcellular private telecommunications network and to a network node in such a network.

  • Patent number: 6097948
Abstract: Selective isolation between a microcellular communication network and a signaling channel of a macrocellular communication network that is relatively larger than the microcellular network is achieved by receiving communication signals from the microcellular network, and using a communications protocol stack to translate the communication signals into further signals for transmission over the signaling channel. Some of the communications signals are translated into the further signals, but some of the communications signals are selectively denied translation into the further signals.

  • Patent number: 5995843
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for using a mobile phone in a Wireless Office Network. The apparatus includes a Service Engine 40 connected between a MSC 30 and a PBX 50. The Service Engine 40 includes a Subscriber Data Base 43 in which mobile telephone extensions and corresponding wireless Office System extension number (WOSno) are registered. When the service engine receives a call to a WOS user the service engine converts the WOS number to the corresponding mobile subscriber number. The WOS number of a calling part is being presented on the terminal of the called part.
