  • Publication number: 20070084480
Abstract: The invention is directed to a pony tail holder including a friction member for more effectively engaging the strands of hair in the pony tail to prevent slippage of the pony tail holder during use. The pony tail holder may include a fabric ring having an annular area at least a portion of which comprises a tubular annulus around a central hole in which a pony tail is to be gripped by the pony tail holder, and an elastic core disposed within the tubular annulus of the fabric ring and extending around the central hole. The pony tail holder may further include a friction member woven into the fabric ring proximate an inner edge of the fabric ring such that at least a portion of the friction member is exposed through the outer surface of the fabric ring and engages the pony tail when the pony tail holder is disposed thereon, with the coefficient of friction of the friction member being greater than the coefficient of friction of the outer surface of the fabric ring.

  • Publication number: 20070017540
Abstract: A grip for a graspable item having a body and a handle connected to and extending outwardly away from the body. The grip includes a hollow core configured to slide onto the handle, and a hollow sleeve having a plurality of outwardly extending ribs disposed on the external surface of the sleeve. The sleeve is configured to slide onto the exterior of the core such that the core and the sleeve define a cavity therebetween. The grip further includes a quantity of a gel disposed within the cavity. The ends of the sleeve are sealed against the corresponding ends of the core to retain the gel within the cavity, and the gel allows the sleeve to deform to conform to the shape of a user's hand when the handle of the graspable item is grasped by the user.

  • Publication number: 20060283473
Abstract: A comb includes an elongate slender main body, a slot, and a plurality of bristles. The elongate slender main body has a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The slot is disposed in the main body and extends substantially along the entire length of the main body. The main body is separated into a rigid handle portion and a flexible spine portion, such that the rigid handle portion is connected to the flexible spine portion at the first and second ends of the main body. The plurality of bristles extend from the spine portion in a direction opposite the handle portion.

  • Publication number: 20060174909
Abstract: A hair pin includes a first leg, a second leg, and opening, and a connecting portion connecting the first and second legs at their respective second ends. The first leg including a first set of undulations extending over a majority of the first leg, and the second leg including a second set of undulations extending over a majority of the second leg. The opening is disposed between first ends of the first and second legs and receives strands of hair when the hair pin is in an open position.

  • Publication number: 20060162738
Abstract: A hair retaining clip includes a base, a locking arm, a hinge, and a locking mechanism. The base includes a first end, a second end and a first elongate section that is resiliently movable relative to the base. The locking arm includes a first end, a second end, and a second elongate section that operatively engages the first elongate section in a closed position. The hinge is disposed on and pivotally connects the first ends of the base and the locking arm. The locking mechanism is disposed on the second ends of the base and the locking arm for locking the clip in a closed position. At least one of the first and second elongate sections are entirely constructed from a high friction material.

  • Publication number: 20060162046
Abstract: A hair band includes an elongate semi-circular body and a securing device. The body is configured to be placed on and conform to the contour of a user's head, and includes an inner surface that is adjacent the user's hair, and an outer surface opposite the inner surface. The securing device is constructed from a high friction material and is disposed on the inner surface of the body and is configured to engage the user's hair and secure the hair band to the user's head more securely than the material from which the body is constructed.

  • Patent number: 6598843
Abstract: An extendable bracket assembly for supporting hardware components has a mounting base with a base plate. The base plate has an attachment side for mounting the base plate to a surface and has a support side opposite the attachment side. A base support element extends from the support side of the base plate. A first extension part has a first body with a proximal end adjacent the mounting base and a first extension support element that extends from an opposite distal end of the first body. The first extension part can be removed from and reattached to the base support element to adjust the bracket length as needed. The base support element is exposed when the first extension part is removed. The extendable bracket assembly can include a plurality of like extension parts to further increase the bracket length.
