    Abstract: An outdoor patio deck is outfitted with a metal grate having a central fire bowl. The fire bowl can be used as a barbecue pit or a campfire retainer. The metal grate dissipates the heat from the fire and prevents damage to the deck. A cooking chamber is created by the addition of a pair of racks, a spit, and a lid. An ash chute can be installed at the bottom of the fire bowl for high decks.
