    Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing device with a longitudinal axis for plugging a leak in the wall of a pipe or tank, further comprising a drive means at one end, a plug and a tap. According to the main features, at its other end the device comprises a drilling head suitable for drilling a cylindrical hole in the thickness of the wall at the location of the leak, the plug comprises a thread and a thread runout chamfer on which the thread ends, the end of the thread extending to a clearance groove and a smooth upper chamfer suitable for deforming the thread at the end of internal thread, the hole being intended to be sealed by the plug. The invention also relates to a method for sealing a leak in the wall of a pipe or tank.
