  • Publication number: 20090205616
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for regulating a fuel volume flow in a low-pressure circuit system for an internal combustion engine with a tail for providing the fuel, from which tank the fuel can be supplied via a feed line to a high-pressure pump by a feed pump. A fuel return line is also provided from the feed line, which fuel return line has a zero-feed throttle for throttling the returned fuel. In series with the zero-feed throttle is an overflow valve which interrupts the return of the fuel in the fuel return line during the starting phase of the internal combustion engine, and enables the return of the fuel during operation of the internal combustion engine. A device and a method for regulating a fuel volume flow in a low-pressure circuit system are therefore created, which device has a simple construction and permits a reliable starting phase at low feed volumes.

  • Publication number: 20060228230
Abstract: A fluid pump having a housing containing a pump chamber containing least one rotary driven delivery element which delivers fluid to a pressure chamber from an intake chamber connected to a reservoir. A pressure limiting valve for limiting the pressure in the pressure chamber has a valve piston which is acted on in the closing direction by a prestressed closing spring and in the opening direction by the pressure in the pressure chamber and, when a predetermined pressure in the pressure chamber is exceeded, opens a connecting conduit from the pressure chamber to the intake chamber. The fluid pump is preceded by a filter and/or is followed by a filter and contains a pressure chamber connected to a region downstream of the preceding filter or a downstream of the subsequent filter. The pressure in pressure chamber influences the force on the valve piston in the closing direction in such a way that as the pressure in the pressure chamber decreases, the force on the valve piston in the closing direction increases.

  • Patent number: 7052257
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal gear pump for delivering fuel in an internal combustion engine, with an internally toothed annular gear and an externally toothed pinion that cooperates with the annular gear to produce a pumping action. In order to increase both the delivery capacity at starting speed and the service life of the internal gear pump, the pinion is supported on a supporting stub in a radially mobile fashion, eccentric to the annular gear. In addition, a device is provided to compensate for the radial play between the pinion and the annular gear. The drive is transmitted by a spring-loaded Oldham coupling, which adjusts the axial play of the pump according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 6945763
Abstract: A geared feed pump has a housing having a pump chamber in which a rotationally driven pair of gear wheels meshing with one another is disposed for pumping medium out of a suction chamber that communicates with a supply tank, along feed conduits, formed between the circumferential surface of the gear wheels and the circumferential walls of the pump chamber, into a pressure chamber. A drive shaft connected with one of the gear wheels via a coupling member is disposed inside the housing in a coupling chamber. The coupling chamber has a connection with the pressure chamber, so that lubrication of the coupling member is effected by the pumping medium.

  • Patent number: 6764283
Abstract: An internal gear pump for pumping fuel from a suction conduit (18) into a pressure conduit (19) has a pump housing (1) in which an internal ring gear (5) and an externally toothed pinion (3), the latter driven by a drive shaft (2), are supported. The pinion (3) is disposed eccentrically to the ring gear (5) and cooperates with the ring gear (5) to generate a pumping action. The pinion (3) and the ring gear (5) rest with their one face end on the pump housing (1) and with their other face end on a sealing plate (13). To lengthen the service life of the internal gear pump, the suction conduit (18) is disposed in the sealing plate (13). The sealing plate (13) is movable relative to the pump housing (1) such that the spacing between the suction conduit (18) and the pressure conduit (19) can be varied.

  • Patent number: 6676394
Abstract: The invention relates to an internal-gear pump for pumping fuel in an internal combustion engine, having an internal-toothed annular gear and an external-toothed pinion that cooperates with the annular gear to generate a pumping action. To increase the pump capacity at starting rpm and to lengthen the service life of the internal-gear pump, the pinion is supported radially movably, eccentrically to the annular gear, on a bearing journal. Moreover, a device is provided in order to compensate for the radial play (R) between the pinion and the annular gear.

  • Publication number: 20030180160
Abstract: The geared feed pump has a housing (10, 12) in which a pump chamber (14) is formed, in which chamber a rotationally driven pair of gear wheels (16, 18) meshing with one another is disposed, which gear wheels pump a pumping medium out of a suction chamber (44) that communicates with a supply tank, along feed conduits (48), formed between the circumferential surface of the gear wheels (16, 18) and the circumferential walls of the pump chamber (14), into a pressure chamber (46). The geared feed pump has a drive shaft (30), which is connected in a rotationally engaged manner with one of the gear wheels (16) via a coupling member (40) disposed inside the housing (10, 11) in a coupling chamber (41). The coupling chamber (41) has a connection (32, 54, 56) with the pressure chamber (46), so that lubrication of the coupling member (40) is effected by the pumping medium. The geared feed pump is used to pump Diesel fuel from a supply tank to a fuel injection pump of a self-igniting internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6565341
Abstract: A geared feed pump has a rotatably driven pair of meshed gears (16, 19) arranged in a pump chamber (14) of a housing (10, 12). The feed pump supplies fuel from a suction chamber (16) between the peripheries of the gears (16, 18) and the peripheral walls (15) of supply channels (30) formed in the pump chamber into a pressure chamber (28). One of the gears (16) has a hole (32) and is secured onto the drive shaft (22), which is rotatably positioned in the housing (10). At least one radially, resilient connecting element (40) is arranged on the drive shaft (22), and the connecting element is pressed into the hole (32) of the gear (16). The connecting element (40) makes possible the rotationally determined securement of the gear (16) onto the drive shaft (22) and forms an overload-protection device. The connecting element (40) also makes possible, through its radial resiliency, a tolerance equalization between the drive shaft (22) and the gear (16) in a radial direction.

  • Patent number: 6537038
Abstract: A device for supplying liquids, particularly fuel, has a first drive shaft (32) and a supply pump (30) having at least one supply member (40) coupled to a second drive shaft (36), whereby the first drive shaft (32) drives the second drive shaft (36) via a drive unit (60). The drive unit (60) is preferably a tapered ring drive, which has a first frictional bevel gear (62) connected to the first drive shaft (32) and a second frictional bevel gear (64) connected to the second drive shaft (36), whereby the first and second friction bevel gears (62, 64) roll off one another by a tapered ring (66) disposed between the two bevel gears. The tapered ring (66) is movable for changing the gear ratio of the gear unit (60) as a function of the supply pressure produced by the supply pump (30). In this manner, with a lower supply pressure, a large gear ratio of the gear unit (60) is determined, and with an increased supply pressure, a smaller gear ratio of the gear unit (60) is determined.

  • Patent number: 6527529
Abstract: The geared feed pump has a housing, in which a pump chamber is formed between a housing part and a cap part, and a pair of gear wheels, driven to rotate and meshing with one another on their outer circumference, are disposed in the pump chamber and pump a feed medium into a pressure chamber along feed conduits formed between the outer circumference of the gear wheels and circumferential walls of the pump chamber. On its inside toward the face ends of the gear wheels, the cap part has an indentation with a cross section that is at least as large as the cross section of the face ends of the gear wheels. Between the cap part and the face ends of the gear wheels, a platelike cover element covering the indentation is disposed; at least when the geared feed pump is not in operation, the cover element rests with initial tension on the face ends of the gear wheels and can be deflected into the indentation, away from the face ends of the gear wheels.
