  • Publication number: 20230302483
Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system and method for applying a wax coating to a workpiece during a strap-manufacturing process. A controller controls the flow of water and the flow of a wax solution from separate sources into a blender that blends the water and the wax solution into a blended solution. An applicator applies the blended solution to a workpiece that is then longitudinally slit and wound into coils of (waxed) strap. A sensor periodically analyzes the blended solution and sends signals to the controller, which determines the concentration of wax in the blended solution and causes a display device to display the concentration of wax in the blended solution to enable an operator to monitor the concentration of wax in the blended solution.

  • Patent number: 10206333
Abstract: A bag applicator assist device for a baling system having a discharge mandrel, includes a frame movable longitudinally along the mandrel from a loading position to a bagging position and at least one gripper mounted to the frame. The gripper is movable between a closed position to secure the bag therein and an open position to release the bag from the gripper. A bag is positioned in the gripper at the loading position, the frame is moved longitudinally along the mandrel from the loading position to the bagging position and the bag is released from the gripper when the frame is in the bagging position. A bag configured for use with the applicator assist device includes a polymeric tubular member having a sealed end and an open end. The open end defines four corners. The bag has a gripper receiving region at about each corner.

  • Patent number: 6986233
Abstract: A bale dewiring system for removing one or more wires wrapped around a bale from the bale includes a frame, a bale receiving region defined by the frame and defining a longitudinal direction, an upper compression platen mounted to the frame for vertically moving into contact with the bale to compress the bale, and side compression plates movable in the longitudinal direction into contact with the bale to compress the bale. A rail is operably mounted to the upper platen for vertical movement therewith. A cutting assembly is mounted to the rail for movement along the rail for cutting the one or more wires. A winding assembly is operably mounted to the frame and includes a rotating winding element having a wire receiving region and a wire winding region for winding the cut wires to remove the wires from the bale.

  • Patent number: 6817826
Abstract: A coil handling device for engaging a coil having a depth and an interior surface defining a diameter and defining a longitudinal axis, is configured to engage the coil with the longitudinal axis oriented vertically and reorient the coil to position the longitudinal axis horizontally. The handling device includes a transport assembly, a lift assembly and a manipulating assembly. The manipulating assembly is mounted to the lift assembly and includes a pair of spaced apart support arms and a pivoting carriage carried by the support arms. The carriage includes a locking arm for engaging the interior surface of the coil along the depth of the coil and a thrust lever including a bearing arm and a lever arm disposed at an obtuse angle to one another opposite the locking arm.

  • Patent number: 5540142
Abstract: In a machine for strapping a sheet metal coil, two rollers support such a coil with its axis extending transversely. A carriage mounted upon a fixed base is longitudinally movable toward and away from the rollers. A strapping head cradle mounted upon the carriage is movable with the carriage and is pivotable about a transverse axis. Two strap-guiding arms mounted upon the cradle, extend forwardly, and are movable with the cradle, pivotable with the cradle, and pivotable on the cradle between a closed position defining a closed path for a strap and an opened position enabling the strap-guiding arms to clear the supported coil when the cradle is moved with the carriage. A coil-sensing arm extending over the strap-guiding arms is mounted upon the carriage, movable with the carriage, and pivotable about a transverse axis.
