  • Patent number: 5908948
Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds containing alkoxysilane and urea groups corresponding to the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents identical or different organic groups which are inert to isocyanate groups below 100.degree. C., provided that at least one of these groups is an alkoxy group,Z represents COOR.sub.1 or an aromatic ring,R represents the residue obtained by removing the isocyanate groups from an organic monomeric polyisocyanate or a polyisocyanate adduct,R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are identical or different and represent organic groups which are inert to isocyanate groups at a temperature of 100.degree. C. or less,R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are identical or different and represent hydrogen or organic groups which are inert to isocyanate groups at a temperature of 100.degree. C. or less andn is an integer from 1 to 8.The present invention also relates to the use of these compounds for the preparation of coatings, sealants and adhesives.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 1997
Date of Patent: June 1, 1999
    Assignee: Bayer Corporation
Inventors: Richard R. Roesler, Edward P. Squiller, Philip E. Yeske, Stanley F. Siranovich
  • Patent number: 5756751
Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds containing alkoxysilane and hydantoin groups and corresponding to the formula ##STR1## wherein X represents identical or different organic groups which are inert to isocyanate groups below 100.degree. C., provided that at least one of these groups is an alkoxy group,Z represents COOR.sub.1 or an aromatic ring,R represents the residue obtained by removing the isocyanate groups from an organic monomeric polyisocyanate, a polyisocyanate adduct or an NCO prepolymer,R.sub.1 represents an organic group which is inert to isocyanate groups at a temperature of 100.degree. C. or less,R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are identical or different and represent hydrogen or organic groups which are inert to isocyanate groups at a temperature of 100.degree. C. or less,n is an integer from 1 to 8 andm has an average value of 1.5 to 6.The present invention also relates to the use of these compounds for the preparation coatings, sealants and adhesives.

  • Patent number: 5438106
Abstract: A NCO-free, free radical-curable polyurethane coating composition which is particularly suitable for application on heat sensitive substrate is disclosed. The coating contains an allylether-capped isocyanate prepolymer and at least one additional isocyanate prepolymer which is capped with a hydroxyalklyl(meth)acrylate. The composition of the invention yields coatings having good dry time and hardness. An additional embodiment relates to aqueous dispersions of the composition of the invention and to films made therefrom.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 12, 1993
Date of Patent: August 1, 1995
    Assignee: Miles Inc.
Inventors: Stanley F. Siranovich, Manfred Bock, Lanny D. Venham, Terry A. Potter
  • Patent number: 4043968
Abstract: Monoethylenically unsaturated monomers including an amide monomer are copolymerized in organic solvent solution to provide an amide copolymer solution, and volatile nitrogen-containing materials are removed from the solution without removing more than 15% of the solvent, based on the weight of the solution, and then the amide copolymer is reacted in the solution with formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst, to methylolate the same.
