  • Patent number: 11979791
Abstract: Various embodiments that relate to local communication are discussed. A radio from one geographical area can enter a communication environment of a different geographical area. However, if the radio still functions consistent with the previous geographical area, then the radio will not blend into the new geographical area. Therefore, the radio can alter operational characteristics when entering the new geographical area such that the radio blends into the new geographical area from a radio frequency perspective.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 19, 2021
Date of Patent: May 7, 2024
Assignee: The Government of the United States, as represented by the Secretary of the Army
Inventors: Michael Adams, William Toth, Matthew Lazzaro, Todd Lutton, Michael Neuman, Diana Neuman, Stanley Fong

  • Patent number: 10079550
Abstract: A system for extracting energy from an energy storage device configured to supply direct current (DC) energy at a nominal voltage rating comprises a first node dimensioned and arranged to receive direct current energy from the energy storage device. Embodiments include a self-oscillating circuit having primary and secondary windings wound around a ferrite core, wherein a positive terminal of the primary winding is tied to the negative terminal of the secondary winding at the first node, and wherein a positive terminal of the secondary winding is coupled to a second node, the second node being coupled to a load requiring power to be supplied at one of a voltage less than, equal to, or higher than the nominal voltage. Some embodiments further include a transistor having a base resistively coupled to a negative terminal of the primary winding and a collector coupled to the second node.

  • Patent number: 9654470
Abstract: Various embodiments are described that relate to a smart card. When not connected to an external system, such as a laptop computer, the smart card can be configured to power itself. Thus, various functions can be practiced on the smart card in absence of connection to the external system. Example functions of the smart card can include user identification and authorization. In addition, the smart card can be configured to distinguish between different users and provide different access levels to different users and/or difference access to containers resident within the smart card. This can be done prior to when the smart card is connected to the external system.

  • Publication number: 20120227306
Abstract: A power module gear coupled to a wind operated fowl hunting decoy, which is normally wind powered, such that the decoy's wings will rotate during periods of no wind. The power module has a body that internally carries one or more batteries, controlled by a switch to operate a small motor in the head of the module on the shaft of which is a gear that engages a gear disposed on the decoy's wing shaft Gear alignment means and module mounting means are also provided. The module will also power wind operated garden ornaments by suitable mounting adaptation.
