  • Patent number: 4524232
Abstract: A combination process for producing high viscosity index lubes from light olefins is provided wherein light olefins are first passed over a small pore zeolite and the liquid product therefrom is then processed over an intermediate pore zeolite to provide a lubricating oil with a higher viscosity, high Viscosity Index and low pour point in greater yield than obtained with either of the catalysts alone.

Date of Patent: June 18, 1985
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: Arthur W. Chester, William E. Garwood, Stanley J. Lucki, Samuel A. Tabak
  • Patent number: 4480145
Abstract: A methanol conversion process in which a methanol feed is catalytically converted to ethylene and gasoline over a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite catalyst which has been presteamed in order to adjust the alpha activity of the catalyst to about 6-100. Catalyst stability and cycle time on stream are increased.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4207208
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the treatment of single particle iron-containing syngas (synthes.s gas) conversion catalysts comprising iron, a crystalline acidic aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica to alumina ratio of at least 12, a pore size greater than about 5 Angstrom units and a constraint index of about 1-12 and a matrix. The catalyst does not contain promoters and the treatment is applicable to either the regeneration of said spent single particle iron-containing catalyst or for the initial activation of fresh catalyst. The treatment involves air oxidation, hydrogen reduction, followed by a second air oxidation and contact of the iron-containing single particle catalyst with syngas prior to its use for the catalytic conversion of said syngas. The single particle iron-containing catalysts are prepared from a water insoluble organic iron compound.

  • Patent number: 4125457
Abstract: Hydrocarbon lubricating oils are upgraded by removing polar compounds contained therein and improving the oxidation stability thereof using an acidified sorbent, such as alumina, silica-alumina or bauxite treated with anhydrous HCl, anhydrous HBr, aqueous (NH.sub.4).sub.2 SO.sub.4 or H.sub.2 SO.sub.4. The acidified sorbent contains at least 3%, by weight of the acidified sorbent, of Cl.sup.-, Br.sup.- or SO.sub.4 .sup.= ions. The process of upgrading the lube oils is carried out at a temperature ranging from ambient to about 250.degree. F and LHSV of 0.1 - 10.

  • Patent number: 3959400
Abstract: A process is provided for dimerization of light olefins comprising from 2 to 4 carbon atoms which comprises contacting same at a weight hourly space velocity of from about 0.1 to about 10, a temperature of from about 32.degree.F to about 350.degree.F and a pressure of from about 200 psig to about 1000 psig with a catalyst of alumina having intimately combined therewith from about 2 to about 5 weight percent nickel and from about 1 to about 3 weight percent sulfur as a result of impregnation with nickel sulfate, said alumina being gamma, eta or a mixture thereof and said catalyst having been calcined at a temperature of from 750.degree.F to about 1150.degree.F in an inert oxygen-free, non-reducing atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 3937791
Abstract: A method of removing alumina from a crystalline aluminosilicate composition having a silica/alumina mole ratio of from above 3 to about 12 which comprises heating said aluminosilicate composition to a temperature of greater than 50.degree.C. to about 100.degree.C. in the presence of a cationic form of chromium, preferably Cr.sup.+.sup.3, in aqueous solution of above 0.01 Normal of a chromium salt of a mineral acid whereby the pH is less than 3.5, and such that the atomic ratio of chromium to aluminum is greater than 0.5 for a time sufficient to remove the alumina. The method of this invention permits the aluminosilicate composition to retain substantial crystallinity. Organic compound conversion with the dealuminized material formed by the method of this invention may be advantageously utilized.
