Patent number: 11951322Abstract: Accessories of a medical device, such as a defibrillator, are described. The accessories reduce delays in treating or monitoring a patient by increasing the efficiency of using, and the ease of use of, the medical device. An adjustable kickstand is movable between a collapsed and extended position to recline the medical device. In the reclined position, a display of the medical device can be more easily viewed by the user. Storage bags can be coupled to the medical device to efficiently store accessories for use with the medical device. The stored accessories can be coupled to the medical device while the accessories are stored within the storage bags. A port guard can protect and shield a connection between a cable and a port of the medical device to prevent the cable (e.g., an ECG cable) from being disconnected from the port of the medical device.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 2021Date of Patent: April 9, 2024Assignee: PHYSIO-CONTROL, INC.Inventors: Christopher G. Publication number: 20230356987Abstract: A system for visually maintaining a predetermined minimum approach distance between load handling equipment and energized electrical equipment includes at least two elongate electrically insulating members that have lengths that correspond to the predetermined minimum approach distance that are mounted to at least a distal end of the load handling equipment so that they extend orthogonally outwardly from the distal end by substantially the predetermined minimum approach distance. One of the insulating members is rotatably mounted using a counterweight so as to be vertical, independent of the orientation of the load handling equipment. In use, when the distal end is in the vicinity of the energized electrical equipment, the insulating members provide visual indication that the predetermined minimum approach is being maintained and is not being encroached. A corresponding method is also described.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2023Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Robert Wayne Palmer, Randolph Bolton Cassidy, Jonathan Breaux Pipsair, Christopher James Snapp, Derek Michael Helmke, Peter Raymond McKay, JR., Trevor Stanley Johnson

Publication number: 20180241476Abstract: An orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmitter is able to communicate simultaneously with a simple direct detection receiver and also with a coherent receiver. The transmitter transmits a polarization multiplexed self-coherent signal by multiplexing a carrier in the polarization state orthogonal to the polarization state of the data signal that is embodied in the sidebands. In accordance with one particular aspect of the disclosure, the direct detection receiver receiving this self-coherent signal utilizes a single polarization analyzer before the photodiode, which simplifies the receiver architecture for direct detection of a polarization multiplexed self-coherent single sideband signal.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2016Publication date: August 23, 2018Inventors: Stanley Johnson, Milorad Cvijetic

Publication number: 20150350051Abstract: A set of computing devices are networked together. Each device maintains data about the other computing devices in the set, namely, a time and location of a last successful connection between the device and one or more of the other devices. The data at a device is updated as computing devices in the set move out of communication range with one another, for example (a) when the particular computing device itself loses contact with one of the other computing devices in the set, or (b) when the particular computing device receives a notification from one of the other computing devices that such other computing device has lost contact with a computing device that the other computing device had been in contact with. The connection table data is then used to locate a lost computing device, or the identity of a device that has such information in its connection table.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2014Publication date: December 3, 2015Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Marylin Ann Lincoln, Muhammad Arif, Joel Duquene, Morris Stanley Johnson, JR.
