Abstract: The present invention is directed to sample test cards having an increased sample well capacity for analyzing biological or other test samples. In one embodiment, the sample test cards of the present invention comprises a fluid channel network disposed in both the first surface and the second surface and connecting the fluid intake port to the sample wells, the fluid channel network comprising at least one distribution channels, a plurality of fill channels operatively connected to the at least one distribution channel, a plurality of through-channels operatively connected to one or more of the fill channels and a plurality of horizontally orientated fill ports operatively connecting the fill channels to the sample wells.

Abstract: A transport system is provided for a sample testing machine. The transport system includes a carrier holding a set of test sample devices and a drive subsystem for moving the carrier through the sample testing machine. The drive subsystem includes a reciprocating motor-driven block engaging the carrier and moving the carrier back and forth in a predetermined longitudinal path extending along a longitudinal axis from an entrance station to a plurality of processing stations in the sample testing machine. The processing stations are accessed as the carrier is moved along the path. The carrier includes features in the form of slots that are detected by strategically placed optical interrupt sensors. As the carrier moves, the slots are detected by the sensors to thereby continuously track the position of the carrier and the test devices as they are moved through the instrument.

Abstract: A pre-filter for an oxygen concentrator having enhanced filtering area. The pre-filter is positioned so that air entering the concentrator's air compressor is filtered to removed particulate contaminants. The pre-filter has an impermeable housing consisting of four walls in a rectangular configuration. There is, within the housing, a first filter pledget of porous filter material and second filter pledget of porous filter material with an air space in-between the pledgets. Each pledget has an exposed filtering surface and a material thickness of porous filter material. The opening of a conduit tube that is in fluid communication with the air compressor is positioned in the air space between the filter pledgets. Air entering the conduit tube passes through one of the exposed filtering surfaces and one material thickness of porous filter material.
