Abstract: The vehicle braking system has an arrangement for applying the brakes in an emergency caused by loss of hydraulic fluid by depressing the brake pedal beyond its normal travel. The system also can apply the brakes for parking by shifting the gear shift lever to the park position and depressing the brake pedal. In both cases, the foot pedal operated brakes of the vehicle are operated without any need for separate parking or emergency brakes.

Abstract: A creep control valve for keeping vehicle brakes applied is under the control of a digital electronic system which senses the vehicle speed and whether the accelerator pedal is depressed or released. The creep control is enabled only after the vehicle speed is between 3 and 24 miles per hour and then drops below 6 miles per hour with the accelerator pedal released. The creep control is disabled whenever the accelerator pedal is depressed or the vehicle speed is above 6 miles per hour or there is a failure of the speed resolver which senses the vehicle speed. The creep control includes a key-operated anti-theft circuit which keeps the brakes on if an incorrect key is inserted.

Abstract: This invention relates to a selectively operable control system for use on an automotive vehicle to insure that the brakes of the vehicle will be locked after the engine has been turned off so as to prevent the vehicle from being stolen. The system includes a valve with a bidirectional motor and a control circuit for bidirectionally energizing the motor. The valve is established in an open position for normal braking only when an electronic key is inserted in a receptacle, and in a closed anti-theft position having check valve characteristics when the key is not inserted.
