  • Patent number: 11946538
Abstract: To detect the occurrence of slippage, a transmission health monitor integrates speed measurements for an engine shaft and a transmission shaft to determine a number of revolutions for each shaft. The monitor then uses a ratio of the revolutions adjusted for a transmission gear ratio to determine whether slippage has occurred. Based on the slippage, the monitor can determine a cumulative amount of wear on a clutch for each gear and track the rate of change of slippage over time to determine a rate at which wear is occurring. The monitor can also correlate slippage calculations with torque measurements to identify operating conditions at which slippage is occurring. The monitor uses the cumulative amount of slippage, the rate of change of slippage, and the operating conditions at which slippage is occurring to estimate a remaining lifespan for a clutch or indicate that a clutch should be repaired or replaced.

  • Patent number: 11913316
Abstract: In accordance with presently disclosed embodiments, a hybrid drive system that uses multiple sources of mechanical energy to drive a pump is provided. The hybrid drive system may include a first mover for generating first mechanical energy, a pump, a drivetrain for providing first mechanical energy from the first mover to the pump, and a second mover within the drivetrain to generate and provide second mechanical energy to the pump. The multiple sources of mechanical energy may provide flexibility with respect to system design and allow for alternative sources of fuel and energy to be used to drive pumping systems. This may reduce the total diesel fuel consumption necessary to perform a well stimulation operation as well as provide for configurations in which diesel engines may be excluded from the pumping process in favor of alternative energy sources that typically do not have sufficient torque capacity to power a pump.

  • Patent number: 11879317
Abstract: System and methods of controlling fracture growth during multi-well stimulation treatments. The flow distribution of treatment fluid injected into first and second well formation entry points along multiple wellbores is monitored during a current stage of a multi-well, multistage stimulation treatment. Upon determining the fracture growth and/or monitored flow distribution meets a threshold, a remainder of the current stage is partitioned into a plurality of treatment cycles and at least one diversion phase. A portion of the fluid to be injected into the first well and/or second well formation entry points is allocated to each of the treatment cycles of the partitioned stage. The treatment cycles are performed for the remainder of the current stage using the treatment fluid allocated to each treatment cycle, wherein the flow distribution is adjusted so as not to meet the threshold.

  • Publication number: 20240002233
Abstract: Oxygen and solid carbon can be produced by reacting captured carbon dioxide with a catalyst in a reaction chamber. A liquid base fluid can form a continuous phase within the reaction chamber with a plurality of liquid metal carrier droplets dispersed in the base fluid. The catalyst can be nano-sized particles that can coat the surfaces of the carrier droplets. Agitation can be supplied to the reaction chamber to maintain dispersion of the liquid metal carrier droplets and increase contact of the carbon dioxide and catalyst particles. The reaction temperature can be less than the temperature required for other processes that produce solid carbon. The solid carbon and the oxygen can be used as a power source for wellsite equipment in the form of fuel cells to generate electricity or power or used to charge batteries.

  • Publication number: 20230392482
Abstract: Introduced herein are system and method for precisely determining the actual location of a standing wave created within a wellbore as well as other key properties about the created wave. The introduced system and method utilize a fiber optic sensing system, such as fiber optic Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system, that actively interrogates and monitors fiber optic sensors along the length of a wellbore. The introduced system and method generate one or more pressure pulses that combine with one another to create a standing wave within a wellbore and process the acoustic response of the standing wave using the fiber optic DAS system over a wide range of frequencies. Based on the measurements, the introduced system and method determine the actual location of the created standing wave and move it to a desired location within the wellbore by adjusting one or more properties of the pressure pulses.

  • Patent number: 11346197
Abstract: The embodiments herein relate generally to subterranean formation operations and, more particularly, systems and methods for achieving target downhole pressures having target downhole wave shapes for enhancement of subterranean formation stimulation and production. In particular, a treatment fluid is introduced into a subterranean formation and a downhole pressure wave in the subterranean formation having a downhole wave shape is determined, and a surface pressure wave having a surface wave shape is determined. The downhole wave shape and the surface wave shape are compared, followed by adjustment of the surface pressure to achieve a target downhole pressure wave in the subterranean formation having a target downhole wave shape. The target downhole pressure and target downhole wave shape may be selected to maximize production of the subterranean formation.
