Abstract: An automatic speed setting system is adapted for use with a bicycle that includes a gearing mechanism having gear ratios. The automatic speed setting system includes a physiological parameter detecting unit adapted for detecting a physiological parameter of a cyclist riding the bicycle, a physiological parameter processing unit coupled to the physiological parameter detecting unit and operable so as to calculate physiological parameter data of the cyclist with reference to the physiological parameter, a signal generating unit coupled to the physiological parameter processing unit and operable so as to generate a drive signal with reference to the physiological parameter data, and an automatic shifting unit coupled to the signal generating unit and adapted to operate the gearing mechanism of the bicycle in a selected one of the gear ratios in response to the drive signal.

Abstract: A cycling route recording system includes a speed sensor for generating speed information of a bicycle, and a route recording device coupled to the speed sensor and to be connected to a computer for downloading and uploading route maps of bicycle cycling routes. The route recording device includes a storage device for storing the route maps, a display screen for displaying the route maps thereon, an input unit for providing travel direction information of the bicycle, and a processor for generating a cycling track of the bicycle based on the speed information and the travel direction information. The processor controls the display screen to show the cycling track thereon, the cycling track being superimposed on a selected route map when the latter is displayed on the display screen. The processor further controls storage of the cycling track as a new route map in the storage device.

Abstract: A shock absorber includes opposing first and second cylinders and first and second pistons disposed in and cooperating with the first and second cylinders to confine first, second and third chambers thereamong. The second and third chambers are filled with a damper-fluid. The second piston is formed with first and second down-flow channels and an up-flow channel for permitting up and down-flows of the damper-fluid between the second and third chambers. A hollow shaft extends in the first and second cylinders and is formed with an opening for permitting the down-flow of the damper-fluid via the second down-flow channel. A damping adjusting rod is mounted in the shaft and is movable in an axial direction to a first axial position, in which, the opening is blocked by the damping adjusting rod, and to a second axial position, in which, the damping adjusting rod moves away from the opening.
