  • Patent number: 8603568
Abstract: A specific lecithin composition comprising phospholipids and lysophospholipids is described that can be used as an animal feed additive for the improvement of digestibility parameters and consequently gut health and animal performance. In addition, the mixture possesses useful biological and chemical properties that can be utilized in the animal feed and human food industries. The composition is chemically characterized by means of HPLC-ELSD, HPLC-MS/MS and 31P-NMR and its biological functionalities are fully described.

  • Patent number: 8507019
Abstract: A mycotoxin binder is disclosed characterized by 45% or more humic acid, maximum solubility of 20% at pH between 1.5 and 7.0, and an in vitro mycotoxin binding efficiency of at least 80% and preferably 90% with adsorption of at least 85% at pH 3.0 and desorption less than 10% at pH 6.8.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 17, 2011
Date of Patent: August 13, 2013

  • Patent number: 8399230
Abstract: The thermal stability of enzymes is improved by incorporating the enzyme in a matrix of a non-reducing sugar, such as trehalose. Heat-stable compositions of enzymes and sugar are formed by adding the enzymes to a sugar syrup and drying the mixture either by spreading it on a carrier or by spray drying. The enzyme compositions retain higher levels of activity after being subjected to heat in product-forming processes, such as steam pelleting of animal feed supplemented with the enzyme compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 12, 2006
Date of Patent: March 19, 2013
    Assignee: Kemin Industries, Inc.
Inventors: Stefaan M. O. Van Dyck, Bruno Coppens, Ingrid Somers, Clifford A. Adams
  • Publication number: 20120215016
Abstract: A substantially oil- and fat-free single phase, homogenous antioxidant formulation that is readily dispersible in lipid matrices at ambient temperature by gentle stirring. The formulation includes a phenolic antioxidant compound, a liquid carrier, preferably a metal chelator, an emulsifier, and a polarity modifier. In preferred embodiment, a combination of lipid-soluble and water-soluble antioxidant compounds is included to provide an improved antioxidant effect.
