  • Publication number: 20230258529
Abstract: An optical fiber unit includes an optical fiber. The optical fiber includes a light guiding region configured for guiding light through the optical fiber, an input coupling end having a first fiber end surface for coupling the light into the light guiding region, and an output coupling end having a second fiber end surface for coupling the light out of the light guiding region. The optical fiber unit further includes a first end piece arranged at one of the input coupling end and the output coupling end. The first end piece is configured to couple the light into the light guiding region or couple the light out of the light guiding region. The first end piece includes a reflection element configured to divert a portion of the light propagating along a direction of propagation through the light guiding region away from the direction of propagation.

  • Publication number: 20230261431
Abstract: A laser system includes a laser radiation source for emitting light, and an optical fiber unit that includes an optical fiber. The optical fiber includes a light guiding region, an input coupling end having a first fiber end surface for coupling the light into the light guiding region, and an output coupling end having a second fiber end surface for coupling the light out of the light guiding region. The laser system further includes a coupling device for coupling the light into the optical fiber unit, a reflection element configured to reflect the light coupled out of the light guiding region back toward the second fiber end surface to be coupled back into the light guiding region via the second fiber end surface, and a measuring device configured to capture the light reflected by the reflection element.

  • Patent number: 11573379
Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems for welding optical fibers and perforated elements by pulsed laser beam are provided. In one aspect, a method includes focusing a pulsed laser beam onto a region of a joining surface formed by an outer circumference of an optical fiber and an inner circumference of a hole of a perforated element, a beam direction of the pulsed laser beam running in an axial direction of the joining surface, and moving a laser focus of the pulsed laser beam in the region axially in or counter to the beam direction to produce at least one weld seam in the region. The optical fiber and the perforated element are locally melted in the region by the pulsed laser beam focused into a material of the optical fiber and a material of the perforated element and are thereby welded to one another.

  • Publication number: 20220229248
Abstract: A device for transporting pulsed laser radiation includes a pulse duration setting device configured for setting a transport pulse duration of the pulsed laser radiation. the device further includes a hollow core optical fiber having a hollow core surrounded by a material. The hollow core optical fiber is configured to be operated with beam path parameter values that are present at the first fiber end and lie in a target tolerance range. The device further includes a fiber input coupling device configured to couple the pulsed laser radiation into the hollow core optical fiber with the beam path parameter values that lie in the target tolerance range. the transport pulse duration is set so that input coupling of the pulsed laser radiation into the hollow core is provided for all of the beam path parameter values in the target tolerance range.
