  • Patent number: 8950947
Abstract: A non-magnetizable rolling bearing component made of an austenitic material and comprising a hardened surface layer wherein the component of the invention is a material used for making the component contains manganese and a method for making such a rolling bearing component wherein the surface-proximate layer of the material of the rolling bearing component contains an admixture of manganese, is carburized at an elevated temperature in an oxygen-rich atmosphere and the rolling bearing component is then cooled.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 6, 2009
Date of Patent: February 10, 2015
Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies GmbH & Co. KG

  • Patent number: 6040059
Abstract: A component (17) made of an aluminum silicon cast alloy whose surface is at least partly subjected to an anodic treatment to produce an oxide layer, which component comprises, prior to the anodic treatment, a surface-proximate deformation zone (4) configured as a homogeneous zone in which the silicon is uniformly distributed in the .alpha.-mixed crystal (1) and due to this homogeneous mixing of aluminum and silicon, the differing electric conductivities of the original structural constituents (.alpha.-mixed crystal, eutectic) are replaced by a uniform electric conductivity so that uniform oxide layers can grow during the anodizing process.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 9, 1998
Date of Patent: March 21, 2000
    Assignee: LuK GmbH & Co.
Inventors: Stefan Birkner, Ernst Strian, Markus Kreibiehl
