  • Publication number: 20110243004
Abstract: A system and method of coordinating scheduling in a wireless communication system are described herein. In one aspect, user equipments determine one or more cells that interfere with communications received by the user equipments. The user equipment may determine particular information about the interfering cells, including a metric function based on the precoding matrix used by the interfering cell. The user equipment may transmit this information to the interfering cell in order to coordinate the use of precoding matrices between cells.

  • Publication number: 20110176484
Abstract: A method for providing multiple-user multiple-input and multiple-output in a high-speed packet access system is described. A channel quality indicator is received from a dual-stream-capable wireless communication device requesting a single-stream transmission at a first data rate. The first data rate is adjusted by an adaptive outer loop margin to obtain a second data rate. A data stream is transmitted to the wireless communication device using the second data rate. A positive-acknowledgement/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) is received from the wireless communication device. The adaptive outer loop margin is adjusted according to the received ACK/NACK.

  • Publication number: 20100322171
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products are provided to improve the efficiency of resource allocation in wireless communication networks. In one provided embodiment, a wireless communication device determines a received signal strength of each of a number of signals received from a number of transmission sectors, provides first channel information for first signals including a signal having a highest received signal strength and signals having a received signal strength above a specified level relative to the highest received signal strength, provides second channel information for second signals including signals having a received signal strength below the specified level, and receives an allocation of one or more resource blocks from assigned transmission sectors based on a ranking of the first channel information, whereby the one or more resource blocks are reallocated to another wireless communication device, from another transmission sector, based on the second channel information.

  • Patent number: 7620004
Abstract: Methods of providing power overload control in a communication system having a least one base station serving one or more users of at least one cell are described which may avoid an overload condition in the system. In one aspect, a target signal-to-interference ratio (SIRtarget) may be controlled for inner loop power control implemented by the base station, so as to maintain the loading of the communication system below an overload condition. In another aspect, a target block error rate (BLERtarget) may be controlled for outer loop power control implemented by the base station, so as to maintain the loading of communication system below an overload condition.

  • Publication number: 20090138778
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for transmitting of data frames from user equipment to a base station in a wireless telecommunication network. The method comprises an error control step adapted to retransmit the data frame from the user equipment to the base station, if the received data frame contains errors or if no acknowledge message is received by the user equipment within a predetermined amount of time. The method further comprises a transmission power control step adapted to control a transmission power of the data frames in such a way that the number of retransmissions corresponds to a predetermined number of target retransmission. The number of target retransmission is adapted depending on the traffic load and/or the number of users connected to the base station.

  • Publication number: 20080160988
Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for testing mobile communications in a High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) mobile communications network by generating one or more virtual users. Specifically, a high speed downlink shared channel is scheduled for a user (e.g., a real user or a virtual user) in a plurality of users. One or more network resources are then allocated by a virtual user executable module to the high speed downlink shared channel for a virtual user in the plurality of users.

  • Publication number: 20080161003
Abstract: A method of determining handoff of a user equipment (UE) to a transferee serving station from a transferor serving station at the transferee serving station is provided. The transferee serving station (e.g., a Node B) measures an energy level in a first portion of an uplink channel (e.g., an uplink high-speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH)), the first portion of the uplink channel associated with the transferee serving station. In an example, the first portion of the uplink channel is where a channel quality indicator (CQI) is expected to be reported from the UE for the transferee serving station. The transferee serving station also measures an energy level in a second portion of the uplink channel, the second portion of the uplink channel associated with the transferor serving station. In an example, the second portion of the uplink channel is where a CQI is expected to be reported from the UE for the transferor serving station.

  • Publication number: 20080151818
Abstract: An exemplary method of controlling communications that may include high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) traffic includes setting a first power limit below an allowable power limit. A second power limit is set that is below the first power limit. A determination is made whether there is any HSDPA traffic. The first power limit is selected for non-HSDPA traffic when there is no HSDPA traffic. The second power limit is selected for non-HSDPA traffic when there is HSDPA traffic.

Abstract: A method of provisioning multicast services is provided. In an example, the method includes forming a plurality of multicast groups, each of the plurality of multicast groups associated with one of a plurality of first channel quality ranges. A request for a multicast service and an indicator (e.g., a channel quality indicator (CQI)) indicating a channel quality of a mobile unit are received from the mobile unit. • Publication number: 20050261899
Abstract: In a method for improving capacity for voice users in a communication network and/or a method of avoiding channelization code starvation in the downlink when establishing a voice call with one or more users in the wireless network, two sets of channelization codes may be defined, each adapted for use with a corresponding first spreading factor and second spreading factor. One of the first and second AMR codec sets may be selected based on a comparison of a given number of available channelization codes for a voice call to a threshold, so as to encode voice data for transmission over an air interface.
