The controller executes a control program to determine control commands for components, such as actuators, of the production machine, with the control commands depending on the parameter data, and transmits the control commands to the production machine.

The computer determines based on a computer-internal model of the machine tool and the determined machine-dependent control commands expected actual states of the machine tool, thereby simulating execution of the machine-dependent control commands by the machine tool.     Abstract: An apparatus and method for simulating the behavior of the drive system and the mechanism of machine tool or production-line machine by use of mathematical models of the drives and the mechanisms of the driven mechanical elements of the machine are disclosed. Preferably actual values for regulated and unregulated axes are calculated at the same time using NC- and PLC-models, respectively by an auxiliary computer using desired values provided by a digital controller. The actual values are then supplied to a mechanism model, preferably a geometric kinematic model, which produces a state signal that is fed back to the digital controller, preferably in real time. The result is an efficient, easy and cost-effective simulation that closely approximates reality and can be provided in real-time.

The measuring units transmit the state signals to a common logic unit which transmits the image of the process at least partially via a transmission medium to a computing device. The computing device executes a control program to determine at least a portion of the control state for the process and transmits the portion to the logic unit via the transmission medium. The control state includes control signals for a number of control devices. The logic unit transmits to each of the control devices the control signals intended for the respective control device. The control devices affect the process accordingly. The above steps are repeatedly executed in real-time with a cycle time in a range of milliseconds or less.

    Abstract: So that the path (BB, V1 to V7) for a rotable polygonal punching tool (WZ) can be determined easily, the workpiece contour (K), the dimension of the tool (x, y), the position of the axis of rotation (x/2, y/2) and the sense of direction of the machining are set by the operator into a numerical control (ST). An equidistant track (BB) is therefrom determined by the control (ST), such as is customary for milling operations. This track (BB), however, is corrected in the vicinity of corner of the workpiece contour (K) by the control (ST) in such a manner that punching optimized with respect to distance and time and with high contour fidelity is made possible.
