  • Publication number: 20180376472
Abstract: Embodiments include methods performed by a receiving device configured for operation in a communications network. The methods include receiving, from a transmitting device in the network, four bursts comprising a block mapped according to a selected block format, wherein the block comprises a plurality of data and header bits. In some embodiments, the block further comprises Stealing Flag bits and Uplink State Flag bits. The methods also include determining whether the selected block format corresponds to a first block format in which the plurality of data and header bits are repeated in a corresponding plurality of same first positions in all four bursts. The methods also include demodulating the plurality data and header bits based on the determination of whether the selected block format corresponds to the first block format. Embodiments also include receiving devices comprising a receiver and a processor configured to perform operations corresponding to the exemplary methods.

  • Patent number: 10159077
Abstract: A sending node sends information to a receiving node. Said nodes are comprised in a wireless communication network. Communication between said nodes is associated with a first cell. The sending node obtains predefined scrambling for scrambling the information and which predefined scrambling is specific for the first cell. The receiving node correspondingly obtains de-scrambling. The sending node sends, to the receiving node, the information repeatedly a certain number of times, wherein each time the information is sent it is scrambled differently based on the obtained scrambling. Each time the information is received by the receiving node it is de-scrambled differently based on the obtained de-scrambling.

  • Publication number: 20180332484
Abstract: A Radio Network Node (RNN) and a method therein for providing improved robustness of a radio link between the RNN and a wireless device. The RNN and the wireless device operate in a communications network. The RNN transmits, towards the wireless device, a transmission with a first transmission mode associated with a first level of coverage extension. When a first period of time has elapsed, the RNN transmits, towards the wireless device, the transmission using a second transmission mode associated with a second level of coverage extension. The second level of coverage extension is higher than the first level of coverage extension.

  • Patent number: 10098126
Abstract: Method performed by a transmitting device for transmitting a block to a receiving device, both devices operating in a wireless communications network. The block comprises four bursts, which further comprise fields for Uplink State Flags (USF), Stealing Flags (SF), and data/header bits. In a first block format, USF and SF fields are interleaved and mapped over the four bursts, while data/header fields are interleaved over one burst but repeated over the four bursts. The data/header fields are overlapping with and overridden by bits from the USF field in different positions in each burst. The receiving device can receive the transmitted block and, if it is determined that the block format corresponds to the first block format, can correct a frequency offset of the receiving device in relation to the transmitting device based on the plurality of data/header bits received in at least one pair of consecutive bursts.

  • Publication number: 20180110068
Abstract: Methods, wireless device (120; 400) and wireless communication network (100), such as a network node (110; 600) thereof, for managing downlink signal information. The downlink signal information being information about signal quality and/or signal strength received by the wireless device (120) in a downlink. The wireless device (120) sends (203; 302), to the wireless communication network (100), a message indicating said obtained downlink signal information and which message is associated with the wireless device (120) requesting access to the wireless communication network (100). The downlink information being indicated in the message by a range that indicates how much the obtained downlink signal information exceeds a certain threshold. The range is determined based on a certain factor that the wireless communication network (100) has informed the wireless device (120) about.

  • Patent number: 9935747
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a method performed in a transmitting node (12) for transmitting at least one burst of energy to one or more receiving nodes (10,13) in a wireless communication network (1). The transmitting node (12) comprises a number of transmit antennas being more than one and wherein the at least one burst of energy carries a payload for one or more receiving nodes (10,13). The transmitting node (12) determines a shift, for one or more transmit antennas, in one or more signal characteristics of a burst of energy of the at least one burst of energy. The shift indicates one or more additional information bits, in addition to the payload, for a first receiving node (10). The transmitting node further transmits, over the one or more transmit antennas, the burst of energy of the at least one burst of energy with the shift in the signal characteristic carrying the payload to one or more receiving nodes (10,13) in the wireless communication network (1).

  • Patent number: 9876663
Abstract: Method and an apparatus for application of distortion shaping when using Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) reduction. The apparatus obtains an input signal. The apparatus applies, on the input signal, the PAR reduction and the distortion shaping to form an output signal. A bandwidth associated with the distortion shaping covers multiple channel bandwidths comprised in the input signal, which multiple channel bandwidths are associated with one or more Radio Access Technologies (RATs). Embodiments herein facilitate the distortion shaping and applicability of PAR reduction, in particular in case one of the RATs is Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) or similar and/or the input signal is associated with radio communications systems that support multiple RATs.

  • Publication number: 20170149534
Abstract: A transmitting device (12) and a receiving device (10) in a wireless communications network (1). The transmitting device (12) determines (701) additional information to transmit to the receiving device (10). The transmitting device (12) determined (702) an order of different circular shifts of repeated blocks of data as a set of transmission parameters indicating the additional information, each circular shift shifting bits differently. The transmitting device (12) then transmits (703) information to the receiving device (10), which receives the information, using the determined set of transmission parameters, thereby indicating the additional information to the receiving device (10).
