    Abstract: The present invention relates to a filling injector and to a method for operating such a filling injector. The filling injector has a sensor for detecting a predetermined detection position of a closing piston unit and a counting device for counting the number of detection positions of the closing piston unit in which it is situated in the predetermined detection position. By means of this, when a predetermined number of detection positions is reached, a maintenance signal can be emitted and the maintenance interval can be adapted to the actual use of the filling injector.
