  • Patent number: 11255278
Abstract: A method for analyzing a fluid that flows from a chamber, in particular a combustion chamber, of an internal combustion engine into a fluid guide. The internal combustion engine includes at least one element, in particular an injector, for the supply of fuel. The analysis takes place with the aid of a sensor, in particular a lambda sensor, on which the fluid in the fluid guide acts. The analysis takes place during cranking of the internal combustion engine, and the fluid acting on the sensor is not influenced by fuel that is supplied in a controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 10221791
Abstract: A method for operating a combustion engine after a cold start, the combustion engine including a supercharger device, a plurality of combustion chambers, a fuel-injection device injecting into each of the combustion chambers, and a gas-exchange valve control device that controls gas-exchange valves in a variable manner. A rich fuel-air mixture is generated in the combustion chambers, and the combustion-chamber charges are ignited in a retarded manner. Following the cold start, the combustion engine is operated with first valve overlaps that are greater than in a warm combustion engine. A first exhaust valve of a first combustion chamber is initially closed at such a late point that its opening duration overlaps with the opening duration of a second exhaust valve of a second combustion chamber that directly follows the first combustion chamber in the ignition sequence and that discharges into the same exhaust manifold as the first combustion chamber.

  • Publication number: 20170240184
Abstract: A method for operating a driver assistance function of a motor vehicle for maintaining a lane, including monitoring a lane on which the motor vehicle is moving, ascertaining a lane boundary of the lane, ascertaining a relative position of the motor vehicle with respect to the lane boundary, carrying out a control intervention in the motor vehicle as a function of a setpoint position of the motor vehicle relative to the lane boundary in order to keep the motor vehicle in the lane, ascertaining objects in the area of the lane, and adapting the control intervention as a function of the objects.

  • Publication number: 20160258366
Abstract: A method and a system are provided for checking the function of an outlet valve lift adjustment system. It is thereby ascertained on the basis of a combustion rate whether a switchover has taken place.

  • Patent number: 9404401
Abstract: In a method for operating a forced-induction internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle with variable compression, provision is made that the variable compression is pilot-controlled in such a way that a selected compression is established as a function of combustion efficiency and of the mechanical stress on components of the internal combustion engine, such that elevated compression is provided in the naturally aspirated range and/or decreased compression is provided in the forced-induction range. The variable compression is generated by phase shifting of a camshaft of the internal combustion engine, or by cam switching by way of a variable valve train.

  • Publication number: 20160017833
Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine in a cold start operation includes: operation of at least one first cylinder and at least one second cylinder of the internal combustion engine using air-fuel mixtures having different air-fuel ratios to introduce unburned fuel and fresh air into an exhaust tract section, so that an exothermic secondary reaction takes place in an exhaust aftertreatment component; and individual adjustment of an amount of fresh air supplied for each of the at least one first and at least one second cylinders to adjust their torque contributions to one another.

  • Publication number: 20150275779
Abstract: For operating an internal combustion engine that includes at least one cylinder for which the engine includes a respective intake valve and valve mechanism, a method includes checking, for a particular one of the cylinders for which the respective valve mechanism is able to be deactivated, whether the particular cylinder will be suppressed according to a suppression pattern, and, if so, deactivating the valve mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20150040865
Abstract: In a method for adapting a torque model for operating an internal combustion engine, which torque model indicates an ignition angle adjustment as a function of an air charge in a cylinder of the internal combustion engine, the torque model is adapted based on a variation of an operating variable of the internal combustion engine caused by a mode switching.
