  • Patent number: 7480243
Abstract: The present invention, in particular, refers to is a data packet ordering method in a mobile communication network employing hierarchical routing with data packet forwarding comprising the step of providing at least one data message encompassing a predefined sequence of data packets, forwarding at least one of said data packets of the sequence via a first network element over a first transmission path to a user equipment, whereby a part of the data packets are temporarily buffered in the first network element during transmission, establishing a second transmission path, while forwarding the data packet sequence, such that the remaining data packets of the sequence not yet transmitted over the first path are forwarded via a second network element, forwarding of the data packets buffered in the first network element to the second network element for providing all data packets comprised by the data packet sequence to the user equipment, receiving and ordering of the data packets within said second network elemen

  • Patent number: 7190684
Abstract: The invention relates to packet transmission scheduling and specifically to UMTS packet transmission scheduling. It is an object of the invention to provide an improved method for packet transmission scheduling, especially on downlink shared channels and an improved packet transmission scheduling system, both the improved method and the system especially adapted to be used for UMTS systems. The invention proposes a quality of service scheduling of multiple data flows in a CDMA system, wherein a priority order of protocol data units (PDU) of multiple data flows with regard to predefined flow's quality of service requirements is determined and a serving of the protocol data units (PDU) is performed by dynamically creating transport block sets (TBS) to be transmitted to the physical layer (PHY-layer) with regard to the defined priority order and in dependence of allocated radio resource constraints.

  • Publication number: 20040042460
Abstract: A method and devices are disclosed for improving in a multi-layer packet switching network or system quality of service (QoS) scheduling having a rate-conserving scheduling functionality based on two scheduling layers operating on two granularities in protocol data units of at least one incoming data flow. The method maintains QoS requirements and determines a service order for the protocol data units by an upper scheduling layer, implementing packet switching based on constraints provided by the lower scheduler layer, selecting service ordered protocol data units on demand by the lower scheduling layer in dependence on these constraints for efficiently allocating timeslots for the data flows, and serving the selected protocol data units by the lower scheduling layer.

  • Publication number: 20030174646
Abstract: An apparatus and a method is provided for scheduling information transfers between a wireless network and a fixed network. According to the invention information transfer between accessible local elements linked to a wireless network and a fixed network is scheduled by directing an information request from the local elements to an operating unit interfacing the wireless network and the fixed network, storing the request in the operating unit and processing the request depending on the congestion in the wireless network. Thereby the processing of the request comprises operating of the request and subsequently returning the information according to the request obtained from the fixed network to the local element within the wireless network depending on the congestion of the latter. Thereby the transfers in both directions are fully managed by the operating unit.
