  • Publication number: 20140063377
Abstract: Electro-optical glare protection device for protective glasses, protective helmets or protective masks comprising at least two optical sensors, which are equipped to detect the luminance of an object field and which have a different characteristic for the angle-dependent relative sensitivity (S0). In particular, at least a first sensor comprises a first photodiode (1) having a narrow detection angle ?1<45° and a second sensor comprises a second photodiode (2) with a wide detection angle ?2>45°. An electronic circuitry for controlling the optical transmittance of a liquid crystal cell comprises differential circuit which generates a differential current (i?) from photocurrents (i1, i2) generated by the respective photodiocies (1, 2), which differential current (i?) serves as a control signal for controlling the liquid crystal cell.

  • Patent number: 5930047
Abstract: An active anti-glare filter system in the form of a monoblock or solid unit which can be easily inserted into areas of protective helmets and goggles as a replacement or alternate filter includes an active and a passive optical filter elements, electronics which control the active optical filter element and a current supply, preferably in the form of a solar cell, which powers the electronics. Transparent cover plates surround the foregoing elements and are joined together and protected by a jointing mass.

  • Patent number: 5880793
Abstract: Electro-optical glare protection device is disclosed for use with protective glasses, protective helmets or protective masks with at least one optical detector, especially a photodiode, with an electro-optical glare protection plate incorporating at least one liquid crystal cell, and with an electronic circuit for the adjustment and setting of the optical transmission of this glare protection plate. The protective device comprises a non-optical detector and a switch connected to the electronic circuit for adjusting the optical transmission of the glare protection plate. The switch links the signals produced by these detectors with each other as an and/or circuit. The electronic circuit generates corresponding switch signals.

  • Patent number: 5444232
Abstract: An antiglare device, as used in the welding and cutting torch technology, comprising an electro-optical protective light filter and a controller. The electronics of the controller is designed in such a manner that in the case of a glare the protective light filter dims as rapidly as possible, but as soon as the source of glare light extinguishes the brightening time can be controlled as a function of the duration and intensity of the glare light.

  • Patent number: 5315099
Abstract: An electro-optical glare shielding device for protective glasses, protective helmets or protective masks, which includes an electro-optical glare shield including at least one liquid crystal cell, an electronic circuit connected to the electro-optical glare shield for applying an electric operating voltage thereto for varying the optical transmission value of the at least one liquid crystal cell, a light sensor connected to the electronic circuit for providing an input signal thereto indicative of sensed light adjacent to the electro-optical glare shielding device and in which the electronic circuit produces an electric operating voltage such that the optical transmission value of the at least one liquid crystal cell is less than 1% and the electric operating voltage frequency is less than 32 Hertz.
