  • Patent number: 12179690
Abstract: A deformation structure has at least a first layer and a second layer, which are spaced apart from each other and are mounted to be movable relative to each other in the deformation direction or load direction. The first layer and the second layer have complementary protrusions and recesses, which are designed such that the protrusions of the first layer can dip into the recesses of the second layer and vice versa.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 15, 2020
Date of Patent: December 31, 2024
    Assignee: Bayerische Motoren Werke Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Oeztzan Akif, Christian Hack, Stefan Hiermaier, Arne Koehler
  • Patent number: 11906292
Abstract: An example of a method for time-resolved calculation of a deformation of a body comprises calculating (110) a model of the body during the deformation. The method further comprises calculating (120) a predicted X-ray image for the body for a plurality of time points during the deformation based on the model. The method further comprises obtaining (130) one measured X-ray image of the body each for the time points during the deformation. The method further comprises modifying (140) the model based on the predicted X-ray images and the measured X-ray images.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 8, 2020
Date of Patent: February 20, 2024
Assignee: Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.
Inventors: Stefan Hiermaier, Randolf Hanke, Siegfried Nau, Stefan Moser, Norman Uhlmann, Jens Fritsch, Malte Kurfiss, Rolf Behrend, Ines Butz

  • Patent number: 10576921
Abstract: A pedestrian protection device for a motor vehicle includes a bumper crossmember and a deformation element which is arranged on the bumper crossmember and which has a first element and a second element which are displaceable relative to each other in the event of a collision of the motor vehicle, and a mechanical locking mechanism. The locking mechanism has a movable locking element which is pretensionable or is pretensioned with a spring device and which is arranged on the first element or on the second element, and with a depression or step to which the other of the first element and the second element can be latched in a form-fitting manner. In the event of a high displacement speed which is greater than or equal to a predetermined second displacement speed, the locking mechanism prevents displacement of the first element relative to the second element by means of self-locking of the locking element.
