  • Patent number: 8375657
Abstract: In an insulating glazing unit including at least one curved rigid pane, another rigid pane and a spacer frame joining the two panes together by an impermeable adhesive, a space is created between the panes. The spacer frame has a variable cross-section over its length, looking in the direction of its longitudinal extension, in the region of the joining between the curved rigid pane and the other rigid pane. The spacer frame, in at least in the aforementioned region, includes a plastically deformed elastomer material when the two rigid panes are mutually pressed together.

Date of Patent: February 19, 2013
    Assignee: Saint-Gobain Glass France

  • Patent number: 6926786
Abstract: In a method for making laminated glass, a sheet includes two glass substrates with an interlayer sheet between them. This sheet includes a polymer based film provided on one of the surfaces with a thin functional layer. The sheet is cut out in dimensions substantially identical to or greater than one of the glass substrates. The sheet is slit on at least the thickness of the film provided with the functional layer so as to delimit at least a peripheral zone of the film located between the slitting line and its edge. The interlayer sheet is assembled between the glass substrates. The peripheral zone is then detached by mechanical traction to transform the laminated glass sheet.

  • Patent number: 6356236
Abstract: A transparent sheet, which may particularly be used as a glazing has a radiation-reflective coating and at least one window permeable to high-frequency radiation. The window includes an area devoid of coating. The window is formed within a region of limited continuous area of the sheet, in which the ratio of the area devoid of coating to the total area of the transparent sheet is at least 25% in the case of the distribution, when flat, of the uncoated and coated areas.

  • Patent number: 5540961
Abstract: A process for the production of a laminated glass glazing having one or more wires within an intermediate thermoplastic layer and electrically connected to busbars, wherein the wires are heated by an adequate energy application locally limited to the connection points prior to the electrical connection to the busbars, to the extent that the surface layers adhering to the surface of the wires are eliminated. The application of a locally limited adequate energy supply takes place by use of laser rays, as a result of the fact that the focus of a beam of laser rays oriented perpendicular to the busbars is displaced in the longitudinal direction above and on the busbars. The wires are then welded to the busbars. The layers forming the laminated glass glazings are presently assembled in a conventional manner and joined to one another under heat and pressure.

  • Patent number: 5445694
Abstract: An electrically heated composite glass sheet including heating element wires deposited and fixed in place on the thermoplastic film connecting the individual glass sheets together so as to extend from the one film edge as far as the opposite film edge. The heating wires are connected in parallel with buses, which are arranged at a predetermined distance from the edge of the film. Directly adjacent to the buses, the sections of the wires which are arranged between the buses and the edge of the film are severed by moving two electrodes, which are connected with a power supply, into contact with the wires. The electric current heats the wires between the electrodes to their fusion temperature and thereby severs the wires.
