  • Publication number: 20100263547
Abstract: A machine for preparing a liquid food or beverage has an outermost housing that includes a top part and downwardly extending sidewalls which cover and shield at least part of a liquid food or beverage module. The downwardly extending sidewalls have a portion that forms, optionally together with a portion of the top part, a grip seizable by a human hand such that the machine can be carried and displaced single handed by seizure of the grip.

  • Publication number: 20100251900
Abstract: A machine for preparing liquid food or beverage from a beverage or food ingredient contained in a capsule or pod. The machine includes a liquid food or beverage preparation unit arranged to receive capsules or pods for use and evacuate capsules or pods after use; a housing having an opening leading into a seat to which capsules or pods are evacuated from the preparation unit; and a receptacle having a cavity forming a storage space for collecting capsules or pods evacuated to the seat into the receptacle to a level of fill. The receptacle is insertable into the seat for collecting capsules or pods and is removable from the seat for emptying the collected capsules or pods. The preparation machine further comprises a mechanism to inhibit jamming of the receptacle at removal from the seat when the level of fill in the receptacle extends above the opening of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6758837
Abstract: A device and use method for ejecting a liquid stream towards an eye, the stream moving from a proximal position towards a distal position, the device comprising a) a housing, b) a container for the liquid, c) at least one opening arranged for ejection of the stream and being in fluid communication with the container, d) a pump mechanism operable to deliver at least part of the liquid from the container through the opening to form the stream and e) an eyecup with a contact surface arranged for contact with the eye or its facial surroundings. The eyecup is arranged movable with respect to the opening or housing between at least two positions i) an active position with said eyecup contact surface at a defined safety distance to the opening and ii) a rest position with the eyecup contact surface at a position more proximal than in the active position and a sensor is arranged to allow discrimination between the positions.

  • Patent number: 6422554
Abstract: A document feeder employs a lifting lever to lift stacked documents away from a feed roller each time a document is being fed away from the stack. In this way the separation of documents is enhanced, providing a mechanism that more readily accommodates documents of varying shapes, thicknesses, and materials. The feeder uses a motor linked by one-way clutches to feed mechanisms for documents and for labels, stacked separately. The motor is driven in one direction to feed documents and in the other direction to feed labels. A moistener is provided below the paper path, and the moistener is mounted so that it can be slidably removed. When it is removed, feed rollers are permitted to relax and move apart which helps in the clearing of jams.
