Publication number: 20250043933Abstract: A signal light for vehicles has first and second light sources emitting first and second light beams. An optical waveguide contains an entry section with a light entry surface for the light beams. A focusing surface focuses the light from the light sources in a direction (L) in which the light is guided. A deflection section contains a deflecting surface where all of the light is deflected at a deflection angle. In a waveguide section, the light undergoes total internal reflection at an outer surface of the waveguide section, guiding it in the light guidance direction (L) to a light emission surface on the waveguide section. The light sources are placed such that the beams strike the same light entry surface. The light beams are diffused in relation to one another at a diffusion angle difference (??), and the different diffusions of the beams cancel each other out.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2024Publication date: February 6, 2025Inventors: Paul Friesen, Stefan Köhler, Benedikt Reckert

Patent number: 10138820Abstract: An excentric pin for an electronic throttle control assembly, which is used to adjust the default position of at least one spring used to control the position of a valve plate, where the valve plate is located in an opening of a housing in the electronic control assembly. The excentric pin is used to adjust the default angle of the valve plate to have an angular tolerance of +/?0.10°. The excentric pin is slideably pressed into an aperture of the housing of the electronic throttle control assembly, and turned using some type of driver. The electronic throttle control assembly may be a one-spring design, or a two-spring design, where the two-spring design requires only one spring pin and the excentric pin. Also, the excenter pin may be used to adjust the position of the sector gear, e.g., function as the lower mechanical stop to provide a minimum opening angle for low leakage, and a minimum opening angle to avoid throttle plate corking into opening of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2016Date of Patent: November 27, 2018Assignee: Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.Inventors: Stefan Köhler, Stefan Burkhard, John Norman Stockbridge

Patent number: 9657650Abstract: A throttle body assembly includes a housing defining a throttle bore with a throttle plate in the bore and mounted on a shaft. An electric motor has a pinion gear. A gear assembly includes an intermediate gear and a sector gear and transfers rotational drive from the electric motor to the throttle plate. Biasing structure biases the sector gear and thus the shaft to cause the throttle plate to close the throttle bore defining a closed position thereof. When the motor is energized, rotation of the pinion gear causes rotation of the gear assembly, against the bias on the sector gear, thereby causing rotation of the shaft to move the throttle plate from the closed position to an open position. A position sensor assembly determines a position of the plate.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2015Date of Patent: May 23, 2017Assignee: Continental Automotive Systems, Inc.Inventors: Mohammed Rizwan Khan, Donald Taylor, John Norman Stockbridge, Stefan Köhler, Nathan Cowan, Joy Jacobs, Jennifer Betsistas, Dominik Ilse

Patent number: 9452704Abstract: A lighting device for vehicles having an optical fiber including a flat segment with two opposing flat sides, a light decoupling area, and a light coupling area. The light decoupling area in which light relayed by the flat sides is output in the primary direction of emission. The light coupling area couples the light into the optical fiber, and is arranged on a free end of a light coupling element which is perpendicular to the flat segment and projects from the same. A deflection structure is arranged between the light coupling element and the flat segment for the purpose of deflecting the light toward the flat segment.
