  • Patent number: 8074673
Abstract: A freeze-resistant metering valve is provided that comprises a magnetic part and a hydraulic part. The magnetic part has an armature biased by a spring. The hydraulic part has an annular space for receiving and conveying a liquid as well as a tappet facing a valve seat. The valve seat comprises a nozzle opening on the side facing away from the tappet. In a currentless state, the tappet blocks the annular space in the direction of an opening (nozzle opening) until a freezing pressure exerted onto the armature generates a sufficient force by virtue of the solidifying liquid. This force is used to counteract the spring force until a freeze expansion space is created by way of a relieving motion.

  • Patent number: 7296689
Abstract: A filter cartridge for liquid media at risk for freezing employed in fuel cell operated vehicles and internal combustion engines has a housing and a filter lid connected to the housing for closing the housing. A filter insert is inserted into the housing and provided with at least one filter element and terminal parts. The filter element is positioned between the terminal parts. The filter insert also has at least one pretensioning part for axially pretensioning the at least one filter element. At least one reinforcement part is provided that has at least one profiled section. It is inserted into the filter element and receives at least one of torque and axial forces. This prevents twisting of the filter element and improves the sealing action and the filter function.

  • Publication number: 20020081239
Abstract: A device for exhaust gas after treatment of diesel engines has one or more storage containers containing an urea solution and having a flexible wall. At least one compressed air conduit is connected to a mixing area and supplies compressed air to the mixing area. A pump conveys the urea solution from the storage container to the mixing area where a mist of the urea solution and the compressed air is formed. In another embodiment, the pump is eliminated and the urea solution is conveyed under its own weight from the storage container to the mixing area. In yet another embodiment, a pressure chamber is provided in which the storage container is arranged. A compressed air supply conduit is connected to the pressure chamber and pressurizes the exterior of the storage container.
