  • Patent number: 7576932
Abstract: A prism assembly including two or more prisms, at least one of which has or more surfaces that are used for total internal reflection or partial spectral reflection of incoming light, wherein at least a part of one of the surfaces used for reflection purposes is covered with an element that is spaced apart from the surface, such that a gap is defined in between the surface and the element, and wherein the gap is sealed with a seal that is applied on one of said prisms in order to prevent contaminants from entering the gap.

  • Patent number: 7448761
Abstract: An improved architecture for a projector comprising a light source in the form of a lamp with a curved reflector with a distinctive focal distance for converging the light beam of the lamp; a so called cold mirror; an integration rod; a relay optics system consisting of a plurality of lenses followed by a light valve, wherein the architecture allows for the use of light sources with different focal distances.

  • Patent number: 7396132
Abstract: A prism assembly for use in optical devices, which includes a total internal reflection (TIR) assembly for redirecting an incoming lightbeam, a color prism assembly for splitting the incoming lightbeam into spectral bands, and at least one reflection light valve for redirecting and recombining the spectral bands to form an outgoing lightbeam, wherein the total internal reflection assembly has a back surface and said color prism assembly has a frontal surface facing said back surface and being parallel therewith, and wherein said back surface forms an angle with a general plane defined by the incoming and the outgoing lightbeams, which is different from 90°.

  • Publication number: 20050157275
Abstract: The invention relates to a projection system using multiple light sources (1) at the same time. The projection system (100) comprises multiple light sources (1), a lens array system for each of the light sources (1), a condenser lens (2), an aperture means (3), a light valve assembly and a projection lens (5) to project an image. The light sources are adapted to each simultaneously illuminate the whole light valve assembly. In one aspect, the invention relates to a system and methods for allowing separately control of brightness, contrast, dichroic color shift or beam uniformity. This controlling or adjustment is performed by controlling and/or adjusting the cross-section of the illumination beam of each of the multiple light sources near the aperture of the aperture means.

  • Patent number: 6416183
Abstract: The present invention to provides a projection system for three-dimensional movement of projected modulated beam. It comprises a stationary light source, a projection lens, an optical path from the light source to the projection lens and a light beam modulating element in the optical path. The light modulating element moves with the projection lens. The image is generated at a location whereafter the modulated beam is not deflected anymore before arriving at the projection lens. Therefore there is no rotation of the modulated light beam around its own optical axis, independent of the direction of projection.
