    Abstract: The present invention relates to a support post (2) comprising at least two tubes (4, 6) telescopically in sliding connection to each other. A locking device (8) holds the tubes in a locked state and allowing relative sliding of the tubes in an unlocked state. At least one end (10) of the support post has an opening (12; 112) in connection with a surface support element (14; 114). A spring is arranged within the opening of the support post to act on the surface support element (14; 114), to resiliently affect the surface support element (14; 114) in a direction away from the open end (10) of the support post and vice versa. The locking device (8) comprises a locking ring loosely arranged on one of the tubes (4) and further comprises a first ring holding arm arranged at one end of the other tube (6); the first ring holding arm having a first recess for retaining the locking ring in loose arrangement around said tube (4) with limited movability.

    Abstract: A molding composition having good surface gloss, high elongation at break and good thermoplastic processability is disclosed. The composition contains (A) a graft polymer that is obtained by free-radical polymerization of resin-forming vinyl monomers in the presence of rubber in latex form, (B) a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile and an optional (C) a resin selected from the group consisting of polycarbonates, polyester-carbonates, polyesters and polyamides. The preparation of the graft polymer is characterized in that (i) before the start of the grafting polymerization reaction the rubber latex is brought to a pH of 9 to 11, (ii) the redox initiator components are employed in amounts of 0.1 to 2.5 wt. % (based on the monomers metered in) and (iii) during the entire grafting polymerization reaction the pH remains constant±0.5 and in the range of 11.0 to 8.8, and (iv) the temperature difference between the start and end of the reaction is at least 10° C.

    Abstract: A process for preparing a thermoplastic molding composition of the ABS type is described. The process includes: (A) forming at least one graft rubber A) using a rubber latex having a d50 value of <200 nm; (B) forming at least one graft rubber B) using a rubber latex having a d50 value of ≧200 nm; and forming a rubber-free thermoplastic polymer resin C). The method further includes: (D) forming precipitates of graft rubbers A) and B); (E) de-watering the precipitates to form water moist powders of graft rubbers A) and B); and mixing the water-moist powders of graft rubbers A) and B) with polymer C) in a kneader reactor. Graft rubbers A) and B) may be prepared separately or in a single step. The content in wt. % of rubber originating from graft rubber component A) based on the total amount of rubber in the molding composition is at least 5 wt. % lower than the content of rubber in wt.% originating from graft rubber component B), in each case based on 100 parts by wt. of graft rubber.
