Patent number: 7738477Abstract: A bus architecture has a central processing unit, a data line and bus users. The central processing unit and the bus users are connected to the data line via a bus interface. The data line is constructed as a ring and the central processing unit has two transceiver units which can be switched between transmit and receive modes. The central processing unit provides a clocked emission of data intended for the bus users. The bus users are successively connected to the data line, and each contains a monitoring unit, which is connected to the associated bus interface and is configured for activating a transmit activity of the bus interface only after receiving a synchronization message, and otherwise blocks this activity. In a method for exchanging data with such a bus architecture, a high fault tolerance, particularly when the data line is cut through, and error locating capability are achieved.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2006Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Diehl Avionik Systeme GmbHInventors: Peter Hoche, Stefan Orth

Patent number: 7337020Abstract: An open-loop and closed-loop control unit for a safety-relevant apparatus, in particular for aviation applications, has a computer unit with a number of computer inputs and computer outputs, and a circuit unit with a number of circuit inputs and circuit outputs. The circuit unit has hardware components for simulating some of the logic operations that can be carried out in the computer unit. The circuit inputs and computer inputs that correspond to one another with respect to the simulated logic operations are each connected in parallel to a signal input line. The computer outputs and circuit outputs which correspond to one another with respect to the simulated logic operations are each connected to a decision-making unit, by which an output signal for open-loop control of the safety-relevant apparatus can be emitted as a function of the correspondence between the signals from the computer output and from the circuit output.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2005Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Diehl Avionik Systeme GmbHInventor: Stefan Orth

Patent number: 6629718Abstract: A motor vehicle having a fixed roof is provided which can be opened and has a front and a rear roof part which are connected to each other in an articulated manner and, controlled by a main link arrangement, can be shifted between a closing position and a storage position in a rear storage space, having a fixed rear window which is mounted pivotably on lateral roof pillars and the pivot axis of which runs in the central region of the rear window in the transverse direction of the vehicle. The rear window is driven in a rotational manner relative to the roof pillars during the opening and closing movement of the fixed roof, and the rear window, after reaching the closing position of the fixed roof, is pressed via the rotational drive against a sealing seat interacting with the rear window.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2002Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Ulrich Bauer, Thomas Baessler, Michael Koch, Stefan Orth, Juergen Schrader

Patent number: 6595572Abstract: In a folding top for vehicles, in particular passenger cars, it is proposed to assign to the folding top, between its closing position and its put-away position, an intermediate position in which the folding top assumes a folded-together stowage position, from which the folding top can be transferred as a stack into the put-away position or can be unfolded into the closing position.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2000Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: CTS Fahrzeug Dachsysteme GmbHInventors: Eckart Schuler, Stefan Orth, Holger Röder, Harald Bergerhoff

Patent number: 5417465Abstract: A top cover box for vehicles is disclosed, which is lined on its walls and its bottom with covering that has water-repellent properties, and which is provided with an outflow aperture in a low-lying region of the bottom, the covering having a downslope in the bottom region which conducts water to the outflow aperture. In order to achieve a substantial improvement of the structural possibilities in the design of the top cover box bottom, without disadvantages for the removal of water from the top cover box, the covering is combined to form an insert encompassing walls and a bottom, which insert is of dimensionally stable and watertight design, a groove-like recess being formed on the bottom of the insert and having a downslope leading to the outflow aperture. The bottom of the insert comprises a large-format surface region with a downslope extending transversely to the longitudinal extent of the recess and towards the latter.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1993Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: Mercedes-Benz AGInventors: Harald Koppenstein, Stefan Orth

Patent number: 5320400Abstract: A folding hood for motor vehicles has a dimensionally stable rear window, especially made of mineral glass, which, when the hood is closed, is connected along its lower edge side via a rigidly tensioned tensioning means to a material-retaining hoop forming the lower termination of the hood. When the hood is folded down, the rear window can be folded downwards into a storage position about an axis extending approximately parallel to the lower edge side of the rear window. In order to prevent drumming noises produced during driving operation by flapping movements of the rear window, a support device is arranged on the material retaining hoop, by which the rear window is supported, close to its lower edge side, transversely to the direction of tension of the tensioning means on the material-retaining hoop, while the folding hood remains closed.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1993Date of Patent: June 14, 1994Assignee: Mercedes-Benz AGInventors: Stefan Orth, Arnold Klimas

Patent number: 5267770Abstract: The invention relates to a folding top for motor vehicles with a dimensionally stable rear window which, when the top is opened, can be folded down from an upright, position of use into a flat position of non-use. The top cover encloses the rear window and is connected along the lower edge side of the rear window and laterally thereto to a material retaining section arranged at the lower termination of the top. The rear window exhibits an axis of articulation extending approximately parallel to the lower edge side of the rear window which is displaced rearwards relative to the material retaining section during movement of the rear window toward a position of non-use. The axis of articulation is arranged to be displaceable to ensure the displaceability of the rear window.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1992Date of Patent: December 7, 1993Assignee: Mercedes-Benz AGInventors: Stefan Orth, Karl Koster, Klaus P. Patent number: 5219200Abstract: The invention relates to a folding vehicle top whose top cover, which can be stretched over a supporting top frame, has laterally unsecured border regions which are connected to an associated leg of a corner strut via tie means and are only pulled into a fixed tensioned position, via a relative swinging movement of the corner strut, during the closure of the top. In order to be able to fix top cover corners present in the corner region between the top support pillars and the material retaining hoop on the top support pillar by means of the tensioning advance of the tie means, a rearwardly offset intermediate deflection of the tie means on the associated leg of the material retaining hoop is provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1992Date of Patent: June 15, 1993Assignee: Mercedes-Benz A.G.Inventors: Stefan Orth, Helmut Rottler, Oliver Pudschies
