Patent number: 6480542Abstract: For the purpose of bidirectional movement-compensated interpolation, it is proposed, when decoding compressed video sequences, completely to decode only one of the two reference frames. Only those respective picture areas of the other reference frame are decompressed which overlap with the picture area to be determined of the interpolated frame, taking account of a displacement corresponding to the movement compensation. As a result, a considerable reduction in the memory requirement of the decoding hardware is possible.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 12, 2002Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Stefan Prange, Heribert Geib, Bernard Hammer, Jürgen Pandel

Patent number: 6353639Abstract: A filter configuration for a demodulated QAM signal has a first channel for a cosine demodulated component of the QAM signal, a second channel for a sine demodulated component of the QAM signal, a filter circuit, which receives the two signal components and for each signal component has one transfer function that is composed of terms in phase with this signal component and terms phase-shifted from it by &pgr;/2 and/or −&pgr;/2. The circuit configuration also includes a cross branch for picking up signal portions from the respectively other channel that correspond to the phase-shifted terms of the transfer function. In a first state, the circuit configuration connects the input of the cross branch to the first channel and the output of the cross branch to the second channel, and in a second state connects the input of the cross branch to the second channel and the output of the cross branch to the first channel. A slope detector especially suitable for use with this filter configuration is also provided.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2000Date of Patent: March 5, 2002Assignee: Infineon Technologies AGInventors: Stefan Prange, Heribert Geib, Erik De Man

Patent number: 6323913Abstract: The circuit configuration provides for the combined color decoding and decimation of a video signal, particularly for picture-in-picture insertion in television sets. The color subcarrier is determined from a video signal for the purpose of recovering the chrominance signal components. The video signal is multiplicatively combined with orthogonal color subcarrier components and then filtered through low-pass filters. For the luminance signal components, the video signal is filtered by a further low-pass filter. In order to obtain decimated luminance and chrominance signal components, subsampling is carried out after the low-pass filters. Given suitable dimensioning of the low-pass filters matched to the decimation factor, a single low-pass filter in each of the chrominance signal paths is sufficient and, in the luminance signal path, an otherwise necessary notch filter is obviated.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1998Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: Infineon Technologies AGInventor: Stefan Prange

Patent number: 6278734Abstract: The method is for coding and for decoding a video data stream, only one picture which is required for the reconstruction of interpolated pictures being stored in completely decompressed form during the coding or during the decoding of the video data stream. That part of a second basic picture (G2) which is required in decompressed form for the construction or reconstruction of an interpolated picture is temporarily decompressed in each case. A further possibility envisages storing a first basic picture (G1) and the second basic picture (G2) in compressed form and in each case temporarily decompressing only those regions which are required for the construction or reconstruction of an interpolated picture.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1997Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Heribert Geib, Stefan Prange

Patent number: 6166565Abstract: The circuit arrangement has two electrical quantities in the form of a first quadrature-axis current component (I.sub.1) and of a second quadrature-axis current component (I.sub.2) that are compared to one another. The circuit arrangement has a first inverter unit (n.sub.1, p.sub.1) and a second inverter unit (n.sub.2, p.sub.2). Respectively one output (50, 52) of the two inverter units ((n.sub.1, p.sub.1, (n.sub.2, p.sub.2)) are coupled to an input of the respectively other inverter unit (52, 53). A reset unit (5) that initiates the comparison of the currents when activated is located between the two outputs of the two inverter units (n.sub.1, p.sub.2). When the reset unit (5) is deactivated, the output datum obtained in the evaluation remains stable.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1997Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Roland Thewes, Stefan Prange, Erdmute Wohlrab, Werner Weber

Patent number: 5990709Abstract: The circuit arrangement compares a quantity supplied by a first neuron MOS field effect transistor (M1) to a reference quantity that is made available by a reference source (R). A current mirror (SP) is provided therefor, this enabling a comparison of a second current (I.sub.2) supplied by a reference transistor (R) to a first current (I.sub.1) supplied by the first neuron MOS field effect transistor (M1). The evaluator circuit is activated or, respectively, decoupled by a first switch unit (S1) and a second switch unit (S2). What is thereby achieved is that no current flows in the evaluator circuit in the quiescent condition. The comparison result is applied to an inverter unit (IS). Since the inverter unit (IS) is decoupled from the evaluator circuit by the first switch unit (S1), an undefined level is never adjacent at the output (AIS) of the inverter unit (IS). This can be advantageously utilized in the further data processing in following stages.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Roland Thewes, Stefan Prange, Erdmute Wohlrab, Werner Weber

Patent number: 5991789Abstract: In a circuit arrangement wherein all logic elements can be represented in the form of a threshold value equation, for this purpose, transistors connected in parallel of a transistor unit are dimensioned in such a way that the cross-currents flowing through the transistors respectively represent a weighted summand of a first term of the threshold value equation. A second term of the threshold value equation is formed by a reference current representing the second term value. An evaluation unit compares an overall current, which results from the sum of cross-currents, with the reference current. The evaluation result is present at an output of the evaluation unit in the form of a stable output signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 1997Date of Patent: November 23, 1999Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Stefan Prange, Roland Thewes, Erdmute Wohlrab, Werner Weber
