  • Patent number: 7721443
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing a hollow, elongated construction element, for example for use as a vehicle front axle. The method includes (1) directing a first blank through a furnace (2) for heating the blank to a working temperature. The blank is directed between a pair of rollers (3, 4) having profiled surfaces, the blank being preformed in one or more steps to form an intermediate product having a predetermined profile along its longitudinal extent. The blank is fed to a forging press having a number of cooperating die pads, the blank being worked in a plurality of steps (5, 8, 11) to form a substantially finished product, having a cross section substantially in the form of a hat profile of predetermined varying height, width and material thickness along its length. A second blank (14), having essentially the same profile as the hat profile of the first blank in the dividing plane of the cooperating die pads, is placed in connection with the hat profile.

  • Publication number: 20090250907
Abstract: A front wheel suspension system is arranged to support a vehicle chassis suspended for movement relative to its wheels. The suspension system includes a double leaf spring arrangement on each side of the chassis. A first leaf spring connection arrangement pivotably connects each leaf spring to the chassis at a first end. A second leaf spring connection arrangement is connected to each leaf spring at its opposite, second end by a linkage arrangement which is carried on a pivot pin pivotably attached to a first arm of a lever that is supported by a pivotal connection on the vehicle chassis. A length adjustable unit is mounted on each side of the chassis, and each length adjustable unit being operatively connected to a second arm of the lever for each leaf spring, wherein each length adjustable unit is arranged to effect a substantially vertical displacement of the second end of each leaf spring relative to the chassis.

  • Publication number: 20080303237
Abstract: The invention relates to a wheel suspension for a vehicle, which wheel suspension includes a wheel holder for supporting a vehicle wheel, a leaf spring attached to a vehicle frame at each end and attached between the vehicle and the wheel holder, which leaf spring is arranged with its main axis in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The wheel holder is arranged in a substantially transverse, vertical plane relative to a vertical plane through the main axis of the leaf spring, that an outer end of the wheel holder is arrange to support a vehicle wheel, and that an inner end of the wheel holder is rigidly attached to the leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 7246808
Abstract: A wheel suspension for vehicles that includes leaf spring assemblies mounted in pairs on each side of the vehicle in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and also at least one damper device mounted on the vehicle in conjunction with at least one wheel axle. The wheel suspension also has a central section of each leaf spring assembly which is mounted rotatably relative to an attachment device fixed to the vehicle, the ends of each leaf spring assembly being attached movably relative to the vehicle, where at least one of the ends of each leaf spring assembly supports a wheel axle and a damper device.

  • Publication number: 20070090623
Abstract: Method and arrangement for suspending a leaf spring (1) on a vehicle (7), which arrangement includes a suspension member (3), which, at a first end (4), is connectable to a rear end (5) of a leaf spring (1) and, at a second end (6), is connectable to a vehicle (7) for suspension of a leaf spring (1) on a vehicle. The suspension member (3) is provided with a built-in weakening (16) so as, in the event of a predetermined loading of the suspension member (3), and when the leaf spring (1) is connected to a vehicle (7) by way of the suspension member (3), to allow the suspension member (3) to collapse while the rear end (5) of the leaf spring (1) is moved rearward substantially past its, in normal running, rearmost position and/or is set free from the vehicle (7).

  • Publication number: 20050091825
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hollow, elongated structural element, where a first and a second blank (1, 14) are led through an oven (2) for heating to working temperature and are led through rollers (3, 4) with profiled surfaces for pre-forming in one or more steps. The blanks are each led through a forging press with a number of cooperating dies, the blank being worked in a number of steps (5, 8, 11) into halves of an essentially finished product, having a cross-section substantially in the shape of a U-profile with a predetermined varying height, width and thickness of material along its length. The second blank (14) is essentially a copy of the first blank (1). In a final step (15) the blanks are joined together into a composite hollow structural element (18). The invention also relates to a structural element manufactured according to the method.
