  • Patent number: 10680816
Abstract: A system for improving the data security during a communication process, including at least one processor and a hardware security module. The communication data is authenticated prior to a transmission process, and the authenticity of the communication data is checked upon being received. The authentication is carried out by the processor, and the authentication check is carried out by the hardware security module, wherein the communication data is car-to-X messages. The processor and the hardware security module are linked via a common secret element such that at least the hardware security module cannot be coupled to another processor.

Inventors: Henrik Antoni, Torsten Martin, Stefan Römmele, Marc Menzel
  • Patent number: 9736170
Abstract: In a method, each received vehicle-to-X message is at least partly forwarded to at least one application of a vehicle depending on specified information of the vehicle-to-X message (N), the vehicle-to-X message comprising a digital signature. Digital signatures of the vehicle-to-X messages relevant to the decision that a specified action of the application should be carried out are validated depending on a decision signal provided in response to the vehicle-to-X messages being forwarded to the at least one application and which represents an assertion as to whether the vehicle-to-X messages comprise data causing the action to be carried out. A signal is provided depending on a result of the validation of the digital signatures, the signal representing a credibility of the vehicle-to-X messages relevant to the decision.

  • Patent number: 9445308
Abstract: A method for verifying and/or preprocessing data packets received by a receiving device in a vehicle during wireless vehicle-to-environment communication includes: determining, in the receiving device, relevance of the received data packets; prioritizing, and verification and/or preprocessing according to their relevance, the data packets for the determination of the relevance depending on the distance between a transmitting device and the receiving device; and checking the signature of the transmitting device of the data packets and/or preprocessing the data packets in an order predefined by the prioritizing. The determination of the relevance also depends on the type of data packet and/or the type or position of the transmitting device, taking into account the position of the transmitting device based on another safety-relevant object.
