  • Patent number: 6924624
Abstract: A battery unit including a battery (3) is equipped with a monitoring circuit (9) for detecting and evaluating operating variables related to charge state of the battery (3). So that energy is not drawn from the battery (3) by its own monitoring circuit (9) when an external load (2) powered by the battery unit is shut off, the supply of electrical power to the monitoring circuit (9) in the battery unit is disconnected, either immediately or after a certain time delay, when the load (2) is shut off. This slows the discharge of the battery (3) when it is not supplying electrical to the load (2).

  • Publication number: 20030184308
Abstract: A monitoring device for an electrical machining tool, in particular for temperature monitoring with an accumulator-driven machine, includes a switch element (12) for separating an electrical consumer (14) from a current supply device (10). For detection of a first operating parameter (TMOTOR) of the consumer (14) and/or the current supply device (10), a first sensor (16) is provided, whereby the first sensor (16) is connected with a display unit and/or with the control input of the switch element, in order to control the switching process as a function of the first operating parameter (TMOTOR). Furthermore, the present invention relates to an electrical machining tool as well as a current supply device with the inventive monitoring device and a corresponding method of operation.

  • Publication number: 20030141767
Abstract: A method of controlling the power of an electrical device in dependence on a temperature includes determining a temperature or a variable which depends on the temperature of an element selected from the group consisting of a current supply unit connected with the electrical device, one or several components of the electrical device, and both, and when the determined temperature or a variable which depends on it exceeds a predetermined threshold, reducing power taken from the electrical device until the temperature or a variable which depends on it falls below the threshold or a lower threshold.

  • Publication number: 20030141844
Abstract: An equipment system includes a battery unit (10) having a monitoring circuit (14), which detects at least one operating parameter of the battery unit (10) and furnishes a control signal, dependent on the operating parameter, for switching means (25, 31). The switching means control the charging and discharging process of the battery unit (10) and are located in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. From the battery unit (10), the control signal is transmitted to the switching means (25, 31) in the electrical device (20) and in the charger (30), respectively. By this provision of shifting the switching means (25, 31) out of the battery unit (10) into the electrical device (20) and into the charger (30), respectively, the heat development in the battery unit (10) and also its structure size are reduced.
