    Abstract: A method for correcting a shading in a digital image of a three-dimensional observation object obtained by at least one image sensor of an optical observation device is provided. The three-dimensional observation object is illuminated by illumination light and an intensity distribution, and an inhomogeneity in an image brightness is present in the digital image of the three-dimensional observation object. The method includes ascertaining a topography of the three-dimensional observation object, correcting the inhomogeneity in the image brightness of the digital image based on the topography of the three-dimensional observation object and the intensity distribution of the illumination light. In addition, an optical observation system is provided to perform the method.

    Abstract: A method for determining a property of an object is disclosed, which includes: recording a first image of the object from a first direction; recording a second image of the object from a second direction; determining a first position in the first image, the first position representing a location of the object, and a second position in the second image, the second position representing the same location of the object, for a multiplicity of locations of the object; and calculating a value of an object property for each of the multiplicity of locations of the object. The value assigned to a location of the multiplicity of locations of the object is calculated using an intensity value at the first position, which represents the location, in the first image and an intensity value at the second position, which represents the location, in the second image.

The control unit is configured such that, before a change of at least one imaging parameter of the microscope from a first value to a second value, it stores both the first value and the second value and makes them available to the data processing unit.
