  • Publication number: 20070111689
Abstract: A diversity receiver system includes a plurality of radio receivers that each provide a uniquely associated receiver output signal and a uniquely associated receiver control signal indicative of the amount of gain applied by the associated radio receiver to create the uniquely associated receiver output signal. A selection mechanism receives the receiver control signals, and determines which of the radio receivers has applied the smallest gain correction to its associated receiver output signal, and provides a diversity receiver output signal indicative of the receiver output signal associated with the receiver that applied the smallest gain correction.

  • Patent number: 6909407
Abstract: A device for displaying pictograms in a vehicle wherein the device comprises a control unit and a display unit, in particular an LCD display unit, the control unit controlling the display unit, and a method for operating the device, wherein a) the display unit is divided into symbol fields (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) which are arranged one next to the other in a row, the control unit only ever displaying one pictogram in each symbol field simultaneously, b) the control unit always displays in a specific symbol field (2) each new pictogram which is to be displayed in the symbol fields (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) which are arranged one next to the other in a row, and displaces by one symbol field the pictograms which have already been displayed, without changing their order, c) a control element (13) is provided with which a coherent section of the pictograms which are arranged one next to the other in a row can be displayed in the symbol fields of the display unit if more pictograms are to be displayed simultaneously than symbol fie

  • Patent number: 6441847
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for determining the quality of a video and/or television image signal. In diversity reception installations comprising several receivers, it is necessary to establish a criterion for assessing the reception signals, so as to select the receiver with the best reception. In order to determine the quality of a television image, the interfering impulses appearing in a line after a horizontal synchronization impulse are detected then their parameters are evaluated. The invention is applicable to television receivers, video recorders, diversity reception installations, in particular for mobile installations.

  • Patent number: 6262766
Abstract: A method assesses the quality of a television image. In diversity reception installations including several receivers, it is necessary to establish a criterion for selecting the receiver with the best image quality. For this purpose, the five vertical connection impulses are first detected in the video signal. The detection of the five equalization impulses initiates only after the vertical connection impulses have been detected. Then, the detection of the horizontal synchronization impulses, interfering impulses and the echo impulses is carried out only after the equalization impulses have been detected. The number of horizontal synchronization impulses, interfering impulses, and echo impulses detected is used as criterion for selecting the best receiver. The invention is applicable to diversity reception installations including several television receivers, in particular, for mobile installations.
