The metering chamber is configured to hold the lubricating grease, at a location upstream of the nozzle, at an excess pressure without the lubricating grease being dispensed at the nozzle.

A method for operating the lubricant supplying device includes measuring at least one operating parameter, such as temperature (T), of at least one part of a system to be lubricated and/or of the lubricant and/or of the environment. The at least one measured operating parameter (T) is supplied to a controller, where a required volumetric flow ({dot over (V)}target) of lubricant is determined based on a stored functional relationship ({dot over (V)}target=ƒ(T)) that generates the required volumetric flow ({dot over (V)}target) based upon the measured operating parameter (T). The feed pump is then actuated in order to achieve the determined, required volumetric flow ({dot over (V)}target).

A ventilation device has a ventilation opening in fluid communication with the pump chamber. The ventilation opening is different from the intake opening and the outlet opening. The ventilation device is configured to reduce or at least substantially prevent, at least temporarily, the formation of a partial vacuum or a negative pressure in the pump chamber.
