  • Patent number: 7769052
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention relates to a network device. The network device includes a receiver configured to be coupled to a transmission medium supporting a multi-carrier channel over which data is communicated as symbols in a first communication state according to an initial bit-loading configuration. The receiver is further configured to detect noise that can corrupt the symbols on the multi-carrier channel. In addition, the receiver is configured to, in response to the detected noise, allocate at least part of the multi-carrier channel to a transient robust channel that facilitates adaptive communication. Other methods and devices are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20080192813
Abstract: A UPBO is performed based on an attenuation of a first VDSL-cable connecting a first VDSL-CPE and a first VDSL-CO, and also based on an attenuation or electrical length of cable pieces between said first VDSL-CO and a further distant second VDSL-CO. Further, an extended DPBO for the first VDSL-CO is described not only regarding ADSL-cables originating from an ADSL-CO but also VDSL-cables from the further distant second VDSL-CO.

  • Publication number: 20080151929
Abstract: A method of signal communication includes receiving a selection signal, and selecting a selected frequency range used for a multi-carrier signal communication from a set of predetermined frequency ranges for signal communication depending on the selection signal. The set of predetermined frequency ranges includes a first frequency range and a second frequency range including the first frequency range.

  • Publication number: 20070143498
Abstract: In a method for transmitting data of various traffic types an xDSL modem is utilized. Detectors are used to detect the traffic types of the data which are to be transmitted and the detected traffic types are taken as a basis for dynamically adjusting a data transmission rate for the xDSL modem.

  • Publication number: 20060059319
Abstract: A system with multiple processors sharing a single memory module without noticeable performance degradation is described. The memory module is divided into n independently addressable banks, where n is at least 2 and mapped such that sequential addresses are rotated between the banks. Such a mapping causes sequential data bytes to be stored in alternate banks. Each bank may be further divided into a plurality of blocks. By staggering or synchronizing the processors to execute the computer program such that each processor access a different block during the same cycle, the processors can access the memory simultaneously. Additionally, a cache is provided to enable a processor to fetch from memory a plurality of data words from different memory banks to reduce memory latency caused by memory contention.

  • Publication number: 20050185667
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (1) for transmission of communication signals between a master station location and a number of subscribers and in particular a device for transmission of a first communication signal in the form of an analogue telephone signal or ISDN data signal. The device contains corresponding interface means (11) for this. It is provided according to the invention that the device (1) is developed such that a further interface means (3) in the form of a DSL modem can be linked, in order additionally to transmit a second communication signal, preferably a broadband communication signal, over ports (15) for the transmission of the first communication signal. For this purpose, the device contains correspondingly developed distribution or addition means.
