  • Patent number: 7678352
Abstract: Devices and methods for the production of ammonia as a reducing agent for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas of a combustion source, especially of an internal combustion engine. The ammonia is admixed with the exhaust gas in the direction of flow in front of a SCR-catalytic converter. In so doing, nitrogen oxide is produced in a nitrogen oxide production unit separated from the combustion source and its exhaust gas duct and is stored in at least one storage catalytic converter or a nitrogen oxide storage and a subsequently connected catalytic converter. Furthermore, hydrogen and/or a hydrogen-carbon monoxide-mixture is produced in a hydrogen production unit separated from the combustion source and its exhaust gas duct and delivered to a storage catalytic converter. Hydrogen and the stored nitrogen oxide are converted catalytically to ammonia in the storage catalytic converter or in the catalytic converter.

  • Patent number: 6832627
Abstract: A fuel delivery device having a collecting receptacle disposed inside a storage tank and from which a delivery unit aspirates fuel and delivers it to an engine. A jet pump which delivers the fuel from the storage tank into the collecting receptacle is disposed close to a bottom of the collecting receptacle and feeds fuel into it through an ascending line that extends up into the vicinity of the upper rim of the collecting receptacle. A separate component is disposed on the outside of a peripheral wall of the collecting receptacle. The outside of the peripheral wall and/or the side of the component oriented toward the peripheral wall has an open channel. The component is tightly connected to the peripheral wall to cover the open channel and to form the ascending line. The collecting receptacle and the component can be easily produced along with the open channel and the component can be attached to the collecting receptacle with a minimum of effort.

  • Patent number: 6739319
Abstract: A fuel delivery device including a closure element, which closes an opening of a fuel tank and has a cup-shaped receptacle, which opens toward the outside of the fuel tank, contains the fuel filter, and can be closed by a cover element, which can be detachably fastened to the closure element. An elastic sealing ring, which is clamped between the closure element and the cover element, seals the receptacle. In the vicinity of the sealing ring, the closure element has at least one opening via which the receptacle communicates with the interior of the fuel tank. When the cover element is fastened onto the closure element, the sealing ring, starting from a non-deformed original shape, is elastically deformed in such a way that it closes the at least one opening. When the cover element is detached from the closure element, the sealing ring returns to its original shape in which it unblocks the at least one opening.

  • Patent number: 6457459
Abstract: The fuel supply apparatus has a reservoir (14) arranged within a fuel tank (12) from which fuel is drawn by a fuel feed unit (16) and supplied to an internal combustion engine (10). Unburned fuel from the internal combustion engine (10) is fed back into the fuel tank (12) via a return line (30). A control valve (34) is arranged in the return line (30), by which a connection of the return line (30) with a jet pump (38) is controlled, which supplies fuel from the fuel tank (12) to the reservoir (14). The control valve (34) has a floating body floating on the fuel in the reservoir (14) when it is nearly filled or completely filled, by which a control element of the control valve (34) is movable. When the reservoir (14) is not in its maximum filled state (hmax) the jet pump (38) is connected with the return line (30), but when the reservoir (14) is in its maximum filled state (hmax) the jet pump (38) is disconnected from the return line (30), which then opens into the reservoir (14).

  • Patent number: 6283772
Abstract: A fastening element (50) secures a subassembly (20) to a body (2). With the fastening device set forth, an elastic prestressing of at least one flex region lateral to the securing direction assures a reliable electrical connection between the subassembly (20) and the fastening element (50). As a result, it is possible to simply and easily connect the subassembly (20) to a definite electrical potential by means of the fastening element (50). The fastening device is particularly provided for a fuel delivery system of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5601422
Abstract: A fuel feed assembly with a feed pump of the roller-cell pump type, of which the pump rotor rotates eccentrically in a pumping chamber has a plurality of rollers which are guided in radial grooves of the disk-shaped pump rotor and are distributed uniformly over the circumference. When the pump rotor is rotating, the rollers run, as a result of the centrifugal force, on a bore wall of an intermediate ring radially delimiting the pumping chamber. The bore wall forms a running track. At the same time, the rollers delimit individual sickle-shaped pump rotor and the bore wall and the volume decreases from a suction port towards a delivery port as a result of the eccentricity of the pump rotor. At the same time, there is provided between the delivery port and suction port in the direction of rotation of the pump rotor a narrow-gap region which, according to the invention, is made so large that the pump working spaces passing through this region are closed completely.
