    Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a mixture for producing lithium titanium spinel Li4Ti5O12, having the step of mixing Li2CO3 and TiO2 in a vessel (1) in which at least one oblong element (2) with a first end (2a) and a second end (2b) is arranged such that the first end (2a) points towards an inner wall (1a) of the vessel (1) and is at a distance d from same, wherein the mixing step is carried out by allowing the vessel (1) to rotate and holding the oblong element (2) in its position, with the result that a relative movement takes place between the inner wall (1a) of the vessel (1) and the first end (2a) of the oblong element (2), wherein the distance d is kept constant during mixing. In addition, the invention relates to a process for the preparation of lithium titanium spinel Li4Ti5O12 from a thus-obtained mixture and its use as anode material in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
