    Abstract: The therapy device stores the time profiles of the blood pressure and of other influencing variables during preceding therapy procedures. The time profile of the blood pressure and of other influencing variables during the actual therapy is also recorded. An analytical comparison is then made between the time profiles of the blood pressure and of other influencing variables during the actual measurement procedure and those during preceding therapy procedures. Depending on the comparison, a prospective blood pressure control is carried out in order to prevent drops in blood pressure in a subsequent time period.

The regulating device processes various categories of blood pressure values, i.e. blood pressure values obtained by the regulating device according to an implemented time schedule, blood pressure values requested by measurement and evaluation device, and blood pressure values requested by medical staff. Besides the regular triggers (RT) generated at regular intervals, the irregular triggers (IRT) and the quasi-regular triggers (QRT) requested externally at respective times are also evaluated.

    Abstract: The ultrafiltration rate of a blood purification apparatus is controlled by a fuzzy control device in dependence on the patient's (16) blood pressure measured by a blood pressure monitor (24). For this purpose the blood pressure (P), a short-term blood pressure trend value (TRK) and a long-term blood pressure trend value (TRL) are fed as input variables for the fuzzy controller to the control device (23). The ultrafiltration rate (UFR) is determined by the volumetric ultrafiltration pump (36). According to the patient's (16) blood pressure situation a prestored profile of the ultrafiltration rate is modified. This avoids the necessity of an additional infusion to prevent too strong a blood pressure decrease.

    Abstract: The infusion system is provided with a control device (10) wherein a plurality of influence factors with different physiological action mechanisms, i.e. a plurality of semantic domains, is considered as fuzzy information in the automatic dosing of drugs and the semantic significance of the individual domains is taken into account. The control device (10) for controlling at least one infusion apparatus (21) comprises a plurality of fuzzy control units (17,19) structured in a hierarchical system. On a first hierarchical levels, all linguistic variables, measurement values and derived values are examined by a semantic analyzer (16) with regard to the significance of their contents for the various semantic domains. In a unit (18) for evaluation of semantic domains, the results of the above examination are passed through a plurality of evaluation stages to draw conclusions on the operation on a second hierarchical level on which each semantic domain is represented by a fuzzy control unit (19) of its own.
