  • Publication number: 20240092186
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating an electric drive system of a motor vehicle (2) with a backup battery (2.8) and a fuel cell (2.6) for providing electric drive power. Here, route data is determined and then, based on this route data, consumption data is forecast. The invention is characterized in that, in order to optimize the operation of the fuel cell (2.6) based on the forecast consumption data, a total energy demand for the route is forecast, after which a mean fuel cell power is determined which is required together with the energy stored at the starting time of the route in the backup battery (2.8) to determine the total energy demand over a constant power trajectory for the fuel cell (2.6). This is followed by a check as to whether limit values of the backup battery (2.8) are violated when driving along the route with the power trajectory: if no limit value is violated, the fuel cell (2.

  • Publication number: 20230258300
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing to refuel a tank in a vehicle with hydrogen, for which purpose the tank pressure is lowered in preparation for driving to a filling station, wherein the filling station is informed of the pending refueling. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the refueling takes place with liquid hydrogen, wherein the maximum achievable pressure level of the tank during refueling, the expected pressure level of the tank when the filling station is reached, and the expected refueling quantity are transmitted to the filling station.

  • Patent number: 8439064
Abstract: A safety valve for a compressed gas reservoir has an exhaust duct that is connected to the compressed gas reservoir, and a sealing element, which is arranged to move within the exhaust duct, and selectively opens the exhaust duct to the outside depending on an operating phase. The exhaust duct has a greater cross-sectional area on the side facing away from the compressed gas reservoir than on the side facing the compressed reservoir, and a constriction on the side of the sealing element facing away from the compressed reservoir.

  • Patent number: 8267268
Abstract: In a high-pressure gas tank for motor vehicles and a method for filling a high-pressure gas tank which has an interior space for holding gas and a filling region with an inflow opening which leads to the interior space, the filling region is formed so as to direct a gas jet which enters through the inflow opening at an angle ? upwardly with respect to a central horizontal longitudinal axis of the interior space toward a top wall of the tank where the gas jet is deflected toward the end of the tank opposite the filling region.

  • Patent number: 7677262
Abstract: A safety valve for a compressed gas storage tank (12) includes a relief conduit (16, 18) provided for fluid connection to an interior chamber (14) of the compressed gas storage tank (12), and a closing member (22) sealing the relief conduit (16, 18); a retaining device (24) being provided which, in a normal condition, locks the closing member (22) in place and which, in safety-critical conditions, opens a cross-sectional flow area (30) in such a manner that the relief conduit (16, 18) is open to the atmosphere. In accordance with the present invention, the closing member (22) is connected to an adjustor (26) which adjusts the cross-sectional flow area (30) of the relief conduit (16, 18) as a function of an upstream interior pressure.
