    Abstract: A method and system for dealing with obstacles in an industrial truck during a driving operation. The surroundings of the industrial truck are detected on at least one side perpendicular to the locomotion direction using at least one sensor unit. A traveled path is detected using a routing unit. When an object is detected, its lateral distance and position relative to the path are stored. A respective admissible maximum steering angle to the stored objects is determined based on the stored lateral distances and a predetermined movement model of the industrial truck. The smallest steering angles is selected as a critical steering angle. The critical steering angle is compared with a current steering angle, and if the current steering angle is larger than the critical steering angle, a predetermined measure is triggered.

    Abstract: An industrial truck comprises a sensor unit arranged in the main direction of travel of the industrial truck. The sensor is designed to be able to detect obstacles within a predetermined angular range. Described techniques include calculating a protection zone on the basis of a current speed and a current steering angle of the industrial truck and evaluating data supplied by the sensor unit within the protection zone. If an obstacle is detected in the protection zone, right and/or left steering angle differences are determined. The steering angle differences can be used to avoid the obstacle. In some cases, a predetermined measure for collision prevention is suppressed or initiated based on a combination of the steering angle differences and if a current steering angle to the right or to the left.

    Abstract: A method for dealing with obstacles in an industrial truck, including detecting a current speed and a current steering angle of at least one steered wheel of the industrial truck using a speed sensor or a steering angle sensor. The method also includes calculating a protection zone based on the current speed and the current steering angle and evaluating data supplied by the at least one sensor unit within the protection zone. Responsive to detecting an obstacle in the protection zone, the method includes calculating a specific steering angle difference on a right side and a left side, the specific steering angle difference being such that collision with the obstacle is avoided on the respective side and one or more of, based on the calculated right side and left side steering angle differences, classifying a current degree of difficulty in avoiding obstacles or triggering a predetermined action.
