  • Patent number: 8946946
Abstract: A converter device (for power conversion in e.g. a power plant such as a wind turbine is disclosed. An individual controller is provided for each phase of an electrical output power of the converter. If a voltage of one phase is indicated as being out of a predetermined voltage band, an active current of this phase is set to zero and optionally a reactive component of this phase is set to a value that depends on the indicated voltage.

    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
    Inventors: Björn Andresen, Steffen Wulff
  • Patent number: 8810211
Abstract: A converter device for power conversion in a power plant, such as a wind turbine, is provided. The converter device is configured for converting an electrical input power to an electrical output power. The converter device may be configured for receiving mechanical input power or, according to another embodiment, may be configured for receiving electrical input power. The converter device includes a voltage input for receiving a voltage signal, which is indicative of a voltage in a electricity network to which the converter device is coupled during operation in order to provide the electrical output power to the electricity network The converter device includes a controller being configured for setting a reactive component of the electrical output power depending on the voltage signal according to a out-of-band reactive current gradient if the voltage indicated by the voltage signal is outside a predetermined voltage band.

  • Publication number: 20120144909
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for testing an electric power generation system, such as a wind turbine system, which is connected to a utility grid providing a predetermined first voltage. The arrangement includes an input terminal for connecting the arrangement to an output terminal of the power generation system. The arrangement also includes a grid terminal for connecting the arrangement to the utility grid. The arrangement further includes a transformer temporarily connectable between the input terminal and the grid terminal. The transformer is adapted to transform the first voltage to a second voltage which is different from the first voltage. The arrangement also includes a measurement system for measuring a current flow through the input terminal.

  • Publication number: 20120139576
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for testing an electric power generation system, for example, a wind turbine system, which is to be connected to a utility grid having a predetermined first impedance. The arrangement includes an input terminal for connecting the arrangement to an output terminal of the power generation system. The arrangement further includes a grid terminal for connecting the arrangement to the utility grid. The arrangement further includes an electrical adjustment system connected between the input terminal and the grid terminal. The electrical adjustment system is adapted to adjust an impedance at the input terminal to the predetermined first impedance, when an auxiliary grid having a second impedance different from the first impedance is connected at the grid terminal. A corresponding method is also provided.
