  • Patent number: 4370001
Abstract: The invention provides a generally usable, extremely simplified basic framework for a chair such as an easy chair with an adjustable back support, which can be locked in different positions. The basic framework including the necessary mechanism for adjusting the back and locking it in a desired position. Said framework comprises two simple frames or panels, forming a seat part and a more elongate back support part, and a frame holder united to the seat part for carrying the framework. Both parts are joined to each other by means of a transverse hinge in such a way that a lever of a given length is formed between the hinge and the adjacent short side of the back support part. A gas damper is articulately coupled between the said short side of the back part and the holder joined to the seat part.

  • Patent number: 4257308
Abstract: The invention concerns an anchoring device, more particularly a screw anchoring device, for insertion in an opening, e.g. in the end of a tube, to there form an anchor for a screw or bolt introduced into the opening. The device comprises an internally threaded locking body, preferably a conventional hexagonal nut, and a sleeve which is shaped, at least at one end thereof, to provide a tip portion, e.g. by being cut off obliquely. The device is inserted into the opening with the screw engaging the locking body and loosely accommodating the sleeve, whose tip portion is facing the body. In tightening the screw the locking body becomes wedged between the tip portion of the sleeve and an opposing portion of the wall of the opening. The union body-sleeve will then form a solidly fixed anchor for the screw, which itself can be loosened and tightened as desired.

  • Patent number: 4101167
Abstract: A tilting unit for furiture, preferably for chairs, consists of two pivotably connected main parts, whereof one is attached to the chair foot or base and the other to the chair seat in order to allow limited tilting of the seat, the parts preferably being lockable together in a desired tilted position with the aid of handle operated locking means. Biassing means for yieldingly opposing tilting forces caused by the occupant comprise at least one block of resilient material located between opposing faces provided one on each of the unit parts.
