Patent number: 8960104Abstract: The disclosed article of furniture comprises a table with an adjustable base, a support, and a worksurface. The table can be deployed in a generally upright position for use and can be folded into a compact form for storage. The worksurface is mounted on an arm coupled to the base and is rotatable relative to the arm. The arm may be folded into the support. The support may be folded into the base. The worksurface may fit within a cavity between the legs of the base when the table is in the stowed position. The worksurface may have a height adjustment mechanism for the worksurface. The height adjustment mechanism may be configured to adjust to a predetermined “home” position when the support is folded into the base for the stowing position.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2013Date of Patent: February 24, 2015Assignee: Steelcase Inc.Inventors: Stephan Copeland, Michael Jurgen Strasser, Thomas Edward King

Publication number: 20130312644Abstract: A computer peripheral support system includes a keyboard tray having a top surface, a left edge, a right edge, and a front edge, and is configured to retain a keyboard on the top surface thereof. A mouse platform is operatively coupled to the keyboard tray by a parallelogram arm, which includes a first end and a second end, and is configured to permit vertical elevation of the mouse platform relative to the keyboard tray. A locking mount is releasably attached to the keyboard tray and has an attachment portion coupled to the first end of the parallelogram arm. A ball pivot housing is operatively coupled to the mouse platform and includes an attachment portion operatively coupled to the second end of the scissor arm. A palm support is rotatably coupled to a circumferential portion of the mouse platform.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 24, 2013Publication date: November 28, 2013Applicant: Heman Miller, Inc.Inventor: Stephan Copeland

Patent number: 8272600Abstract: A keyboard support having a generally flat keyboard supporting surface and a track extending along an outer periphery of the keyboard support. A mouse support has a generally flat mouse supporting surface and is coupled to the keyboard support by a track follower that engages the track for movement along the track. A coupling arm engages the track follower and allows pivoting of the mouse support with respect to the keyboard support.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2009Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Workrite Ergonomics, Inc.Inventors: Stephan Copeland, Derek Timm

Patent number: 7478786Abstract: A mechanical support arm for holding lamps, flat screen monitors or other equipment which comprises a base member and two links joined by pivoting joints and held in position by friction in the joints. The amount of friction required to hold the equipment in position is reduced by the use of spring-assisted counterbalances that compensate for the majority of the weight. The novel aspects of the invention include the design of the pivots, which are linked rings able to rotate about axles disposed at the pivot points, and the manner in which the springs are attached to the pivot points to reduce the amount of force that need be exerted on the arm to place the object being supported in the desired position.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2004Date of Patent: January 20, 2009Assignee: Knoll, Inc.Inventor: Stephan Copeland

Publication number: 20080003048Abstract: A dentifrice-dispensing toothbrush having a handle defining a cavity that is at least partially open at one end of the handle, a dentifrice cartridge located in the cavity and defining an opening located proximate the cavity opening, the opening closed with a cap or temporary seal. There is a head carrying brushing bristles and adapted to be removably engaged with the handle at the cavity opening. The cartridge is fluidly connected to and so delivers dentifrice to the bristles. A roller located in the handle cavity is manually moved to compress the cartridge and so dispense dentifrice; the roller is moved through a roller actuator mechanism coupled to the roller and extending outwardly from the handle.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2007Publication date: January 3, 2008Inventors: Karen Glassman, Stephan Copeland
