  • Patent number: 11926134
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a protective wrap and a protective envelope or pouch: made therefrom, as well as the apparatus and: process for forming such wraps and envelopes. Water-based heat-expandable adhesives (WBHEA) which include a plurality of heat-expandable microspheres are disposed in a pattern between, web substrates on a continuous, high speed manufacturing line to produce padded, insulated products: useful as envelopes, mailers and other protective packaging.

  • Publication number: 20230019817
Abstract: An illicit signal is detected on an in-vehicle communication network of an autonomous vehicle. A severity level corresponding to the illicit signal is identified, among multiple severity levels, based on one or more characteristics associated with the illicit signal. The severity level is indicative of a level of adverse impact on safety related to an autonomous vehicle environment. The adverse impact is to be caused by the autonomous vehicle when the autonomous vehicle is compromised by the illicit signal. A security operation is selected from multiple security operations based on the identified severity level. The security operation is performed to mitigate the adverse impact on safety related to the autonomous vehicle environment.

  • Publication number: 20230017962
Abstract: An in-vehicle communication network of a vehicle is monitored. An illicit signal is detected on the in-vehicle communication network. Whether the illicit signal satisfies a threshold severity condition is determined. A denial of service (DoS) operation with respect to at least part of the in-vehicle communication network is performed responsive to determining that the illicit signal satisfies the threshold severity condition.

  • Patent number: 9619946
Abstract: A communication system in a vehicle is described and various methods for securely providing diagnostic data between a vehicle and a remote server using a vehicle diagnostic tool. The method may include the steps of: receiving at the remote from the diagnostic tool both a challenge question and encrypted data acquired by the diagnostic tool from a vehicle electronic control unit; using the challenge question to determine how to decrypt the encrypted data; and decrypting the encrypted data at the remote server.

  • Patent number: 9477843
Abstract: A vehicle system and method of secure communication between a vehicle and an external device communicating with the vehicle in a diagnostics mode. The method includes the steps of: receiving a first diagnostic request at an electronic control unit (ECU) from the external device; determining an increased risk of security breach at the ECU based on the [nature of the] first request; and when it is determined that the increased risk exists, providing a misinformative response.

  • Patent number: 9460567
Abstract: A vehicle diagnostic communication system and a method of establishing a secure diagnostic session at a vehicle is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: providing a seed value from an electronic control unit (ECU) to a vehicle diagnostics tool; determining a first challenge response at the diagnostics tool, a remote server coupled to the diagnostics tool, or both, wherein the first challenge response is calculated using the seed value and one or more iterations of a key derivation function; providing the first challenge response to the ECU; and if the first challenge response is validated at the ECU, conducting a diagnostic session between the diagnostics tool and the ECU.
